Do You Have a Personal Trainer?

Recommended Posts

I'm always looking at all these trainers some certified and some not giving all this advice on social media.

I'm not looking to hire but am curious to learn how people choose one.

I used a personal trainer once, found it o be a waste. I use fits tar which is an app from Fitbit. They have online trainings that cover everything. I started using pre-op and loved it. It "kicked my butt"

Looking forward to starting again once I'm healed enough. Will be starting the toning sets.

My wife and I used one for a year or so who was a referral from her physical therapists as one who they worked with to do follow on work after one is beyond the physical therapy level, which is what she needed, and I tagged along to work at my level (I think it was an additional $10 per hour to do both of us.)

I have also known some post ops who have hired kinesiologists to specifically help them with balance issues, as that can be a problem for some with the rapidly changing center of gravity that we can experience as the weight comes off (I used to joke with my wife that it was like going through puberty in reverse....)

I was fortunate to have a friend who is a personal trainer. So I hired her and I couldn't do it without her. She keeps me going. So many days after working on my feet all day where I just want to go home but I have my appt with her and know I have to go. Once I'm there I'm glad I went. But if she wasn't there waiting I feel I wouldn't go sometimes. For that reason alone...it's worth it to me.

HI DeeM! so Proud of u :) keep it up. I am finally feeling good about my workout and fitness level to consult my boyfriend ( former competitive bodybuilder and a personal trainer of over 2 decades) about working out. He has been extremely supportive of my healthy eating and has become my number one supporter. We do hikes and walks together but I'm embarrassed to have him watch me in the gym. So every week he gives me a new set of workouts I can incorporate or tips on improving on current routines. He always reminds me that with dedication and consistency and clean diet I can and will get the body I want. The man has more faith in me than I do me thinks. I have a long ways to go but I'm more hopeful now then ever.

I guess it can be for some, but we are at such different levels that there really isn't any, She needed to restore basic functional strength after anemia induced atrophy after plastics while I had been working out and swimming for years. I mostly tagged along to get a bit of professional guidance and be with her through the process. I never thought I would ever see her doing two minute planks though!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
