I'm seven months post-op and I've hit a wall. I'm pretty bad with Water intake and I'm working on improving it. But I'm about to join a gym to get more exercise in. I've been doing the basics at home and I need to up my workout. I'm thinking I'll do 20ish minutes cardio and 20-30 strength. I know cardio will help with weight loss but I need to tone really bad. So what is everyone's routine at the gym? What equipment do you use?

I generally do a variety of things to keep my body guessing at what comes next. I like Pilates, but want to integrate more Yoga into my routine. I like swimming and walking. I do group sessions with the folks at work *boot camps* and those include a wide range of workouts as well... my favorite being Tabattas. I also find things on You Tube and like to do those as well especially if they are 20 minutes long and can be squeezed in here and there.

Some of my favorites are boxing and yoga. Boxing is excellent cardio and works on flexibility and range of motion. Yoga helps with flexibility and is great for mental focus. And believe me it will me a work out! I recently started using trx straps which allow me to focus on body weight. Do make sure you have Protein soon after any strength training to help your body build back your muscle. Don't be afraid of weight training. You won't get body builder big. I highly recommend getting a trainer to write a program for you and to show you how to do it safely. Proper form is key to prevent injury. I'm pre op and currently doing three days a week of weights with some interval cardio (two to three sets of weights then a minute or two of cardio then back to weights) and then two days of cardio only.

There's no true substitute for free weights and compound lifts: bench press, squat, military press, dead lift. Mix in some smaller muscle groups. Train 2 muscle groups every other day. Every time you lift, try to do the same number of sets and reps with a little more weight than the last time you did that exercise. I recommend 4 sets of 10 reps with as much weight as you can lift and complete the set.

You will see gains within the first two weeks.

You've proven you're not a bot, but I am still trying to figure out why you are on a WLS forum.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
