2 days since band placement

Recommended Posts

I am 2 days post op. and starting to feel hungry, but having what i guess is gas pains when drinking my Water. Am moving around freely with minimum pain on getting up or down. The largest incision is pretty sore, but the other 5 aren't bad at all. Is all of this normal??

Yes It's Normal, I Had More Pain In My Left Shoulder Due To Gas But I Guess It Never Came Out. Have You Got Your Protein Drinks Yet? That Will Help You From Being Hungry Just Go Slow. And Try And Get Your Water In To That Helps The Hunger To. And broth. I Got My First Fill 3 Weeks After Surgery So Maybe It Won't Be To Long. Good Luck And Let Me Know If That Helps And Just Do What Ever Else The Doctor Says. Shand

Hello, my name is Bert and I am a foodaholic. LOL I am 4 days post-Op. Everything is going well.. I haven't had any gas or nausea. The first day post-op, I walked 2 times for a 1/8 mile total and took 2 naps.

Day 2, I walked 1 time for a 1/16th mile and took 3 one hour naps.

Day 3, I walked 1 time for a 1/16th mile and took a one hour nap.

Today, I rode my bike for 20 minutes and took a 2 hour nap.

I've sipped about a gallon of Water all 4 days and feel rested and no pain or meds.:clap2:

What you think is hunger pains, might just be gas rolling around...try not to think of being hungry !! I was banded one week ago and still have a rumble or two, but really am out and about...good luck !

Welcome, and congratulations! Yes, it's normal. The only thing that helped me with the gas pains was to walk a lot.

kmmhmomof4: Yuppers, it's very normal. It will pass over the next few days, just hang in there. You can try a heating pad to relieve the pain, but sip the Water and wait....then sip again. The first 3 days are like an out of body experience, but since I am a child of the 70's... :heh:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
