Waking up early/off cycle (ladies)

Recommended Posts

Ok...this has never been a problem, but sleeping a solid 8 hours isn't happening anymore since surgery. Today, I was wide awake at 4am :( Also, my cycle can't make up its mind if it's coming or going. Please tell me this is normal and will resolve itself over time.

I had my good days and bad days when it came to sleeping after my surgery. The first day after surgery I was hardly awake, used to get up only to vomit. But the 2nd and 3rd day I had very little sleep (less than an hour).

However, after I got home from the hospital I noticed that I either used to sleep too much or too little. I found Chamomile tea to be of big help. Try sipping it before going to sleep. It soothes you.

I also found exercising helps. Exercising half hour before bed time - only light hand movements and walks (I take walks inside my apartment from room to room), this makes me tired and then I sip the Chamomile tea and go to sleep. This technique works well for me at least 5 days a week!

I've had 2 cycles since the surgery (I was sleeved on 17th Dec 2016) and my periods started on the 19th of Dec. I had hell of a time during the 5 days (I never had periods for just 5 days without the assistance of any hormonal tablet). In Jan I felt from the 2nd week onwards any day I might get my period because of the abdominal /back pain, but nothing for almost a week and then I had my periods during the mid of Jan. I checked with my gynecologist and she says 'not to stress' and let my body settle with the new surgery and things will go back to normal over a period of time (which varies form person to person).

Right after my surgery I was up in the night around 3-5 am in those hours for several days. I attributed it to being uncomfortable because I wasn't able to sleep in the positions that I regularly do. I'm just two weeks out now and my sleeping has regulated a bit and I'm back to sleeping 7-8 hours.

Hang in there it gets better.

I had my surgery on February 9th and that came and went fairly quickly.

What's going on with your sleep habits? Are you comfortable? Too hot or too cold maybe? Are you getting up to use the bathroom?

I was sleeping solid. Yesterday I wanted to sleep all day, I was so tired. But I got up for work. Today, my eyes popped open at 4am. I have some cramping from my cycle which is messed up too. But normally I can roll over and go back to sleep. Not today, I was spry with lots of energy. So I went to work early. I know I am going to crash when I get home later. I am sure it has to do with the hormones

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
