Please tell me how to get rid of this gas pain. 2 days post op and omg. I've been walking and burping but I want it all out now.

My surgery went well. Surgeon said I did great and he know I'll be a success story. I'm excited! But please what can I do to alleviate this gas real quick? Help!

Walk, walk, walk! Try gas-x strips and make sure you are using your Spirometer. It is not fun, I know! This too shall pass...good luck with your journey...

WALK.... WALK... WALK.... Did I say WALK again!!!! The gas has to be released, in order to do so you have to move around, trust me I know, everyone knows that they aren't a happy feeling. I would highly suggest Gas-X Strips, they work wonders, I'm only 1 month Post-Op and I faithfully keep them in my purse along with Zofran, have to stay prepared at all times.

I was discharged yesterday evening. Now I'm trying to walk around so I can get this gas on out of me. But I feel okay. Just want a healthy and speedy recovery for us both.

Thanks so much, praying the same for you as well. No gas pains for me just some pains with the healing. Nothing major, my PA said get tired of doing a WHOLE LOT OF NOTHING for 2 weeks. Nothing more than nothing until she sees me in 2 weeks. So I'm doing just what the Dr.Ordered......NOTHING[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23], and staying hydrated.

I'm okay. Still have the gas pain but it's easing. How are you feeling?! Day 4 post op!

I'm doing good, some tenderness but I'm ok. Has the gas x stripes been giving you any relief? I've been passing gas and belching pretty good[emoji23][emoji23] (tmi I know) . Prayers that you start blasting gas!!![emoji23][emoji23]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
