Well I did get a new approval letter where my surgeon upgraded my surgery. I will be in the hospital two days. I start my Protein diet today. My doctor says shake for Breakfast and snack. Protein and green vegetable for lunch and dinner. Lots of Water.

So your going for the DS? How much weight do you need to lose and are you prepared for the intense Vitamin intake post op?

You can read about the SIPS procedure, not all surgeons do this. It is said to solve bowel issues. I at least hope so. Im glad that is being done with my procedure.

Annie, it started off as the sleeve then my Surgeon asked if I wanted the sleeve plus. I choose the plus. It's the sleeve plus ds and sips. I am prepared for the Vitamins. I am considering the Patches when possible. I need to lose 120 pounds. I am ready to face the challenges ahead with exercise, eating habits and with all the Vitamin requirements. I heard that the vitamins can be expensive but so we're all the sweets and chips I consumed. Just giving up soda was a Hugh accomplishment. What I need most is support and as much knowledge as possible. recipes and advice is welcomed. This is new to me and even this 2 week Protein diet is learning something new. I'm glad I enjoy Premier Protein shakes. I'd love to hear from others with suggestions.

All the best, I think it's a significant commitment. Many ppl have lost more than 120 pounds with the sleeve by the way... Have you chatted with anyone that had this procedure done?

I met a fellow that was 10 yrs out and on another forum he takes 18 pills daily for supplements.

I can tell you I take suplements now for vsg not nearly as much as you will need and its far more expensive than pop and chips....those things are cheap.

The Patches work for some folks, I am sure your planning on chatting with your nutritionist.

Also I really recommend talking to a few ppl that had the same procedure.

I am nervous about all the Vitamin requirements. I know that it will be a lifetime commitment. I have a great nutritional adviser. I keep reading more and more about the experiences of people who have had this procedure. Some scare the devil out of me. What other forums are you reading?

My surgeon has me taking juiceplus beginning today. They too will be a daily requirement. Not the best tasting but could be a lot worse.

So are you having the SIPS or the full DS? I'm not sure.

I'm 55 years old. I'm in good health. My Surgeon is a specialist in this procedure. Often times the sleeve needs revised. This surgery is more efficient and will benefit me the best in the long run. After 40 years of yo-yo dieting. I'm ready to commit myself to a new lifestyle and to be a healthier me. I have no choice after this surgery. The success rate is high and the complications risk is worth the success rate.

I've heard and read stories on both reasons. What ever surgery a person chooses, it's a big decision. The medical staff and Surgeon are the best people to give advise before surgery

After surgery, I think the support groups advise will be priceless.

I'm new to this. I'm learning more and more each day. God be will us all on our journey to good health and happiness.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
