I was sleeved yesterday 2/16 woke up with horrible nauseous & very dizzy & gas pains but unable to walk . This morning I'm doing much better went on about 4 small walks on hospital floor. I was given broth & Jello I can eat it just fine but then I get a bellyache after eating ?? Is this Normal or is it gas ?

Might be a bit of both. My stomach was really swollen the first two days and everything seemed to want to sit on top. Honestly I can't imagine trying to have Jello that soon after surgery. Getting my Water and Protein Drink mixes was hard enough. I had a hard time with gas and couldn't get any out despite walking. I'd get a few small burps here and there but never seemed to be enough.

Hope you have a speedy recovery! The first few days are tough but don't worry, it does get better!

I just got sleeved Wednesday the 15th, and I still have terrible gas, in my chest and back. I've been walking, but I still have it. Hopefully this upcoming week will be better. Stay motivated!

I was sleeved on 1/18. I had a lot of nausea and some of the other symptoms you described as well. For gas, I took Gas X strips which I ordered from Amazon, but try the drugstore. When my stomach would get upset or I'd feel discomfort I'd sip slower. If it become excessive please reach out to your doc :) Remember, it does take time for the anesthesia and such to work it's way out your system, plus your "new" tummy is readjusting to every thing that's gone on. Wishing you a speedy recovery & the best of luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
