I began this process back in late August 2016. December 29th I got an approval from ins, and February 13th, I underwent surgery.

I'm still pretty sore, but looking forward to this journey. Haven't had any issues swallowing or felt dumping syndrome as of yet

Sleevinpops, I think so too. I at least haven't had any of the side effects others have had. But I also know the journey has just started

That's great! I'm hoping not to have to rely on pain medication much longer

I'm only two days out, but honestly I haven't had any cravings. I don't feel hunger either. I'm still hospitalized, so I have to drink the Protein given to me here, the only thing that has helped me has been having the broth or creme Soup after the shake. Hopefully your head hunger and craves go away

Absolutely! This seems to be the toughest part right now! I made some broth yesterday and the salt gave me a wicked craving for Doritos! I actually thought about just licking one just for the taste, but walked it off. I can't imagine two more weeks of this before I can start soft foods!

Hey everyone had mine on 2/8/17 and I am struggling HARD with head hunger. Even though I can barely get down 2 Protein Shakes I want to eat 6 slices of pizza ! Anyone else feel this way?

I can relate. I had my surgery on 2/7 and have had a lot of head hunger. I am spending a lot of time looking at soft food recipes on pinterest. I know it is head hungry but it makes me nervous.

Thanks Sleevepanda, but I did terrible yesterday. I was only able to down two of my four shakes. I got home after discharged and I have slept twelve hours. I'll be back on trying the Protein again and Water intake. I just don't feel the hunger and nausea isn't helping any. But we just have to worry about protein and water intake for now. Wishing the best for all those beginning their journey like me.

Texas, (and all post sleevers) I have been drinking a protein water called Trimino. It has 7 grams of protein and helps keep me on the protein target along with the Protein Shakes..

You can find it on Amazon. Just an FYI for another option

Thanks for pointing it out. The one I'm on isn't that bad, it's nectar sweets, but due to my nausea and feeling full I just can't down anything. Today has been good so far, 2 down one to go. Haven't been able to walk much either.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
