February 15, 20179 yr I began this process back in late August 2016. December 29th I got an approval from ins, and February 13th, I underwent surgery.I'm still pretty sore, but looking forward to this journey. Haven't had any issues swallowing or felt dumping syndrome as of yet
February 15, 20179 yr Hi Tex! Sounds like your doing great! I am one week post tomorrow. Very little pain after surgery, stopped taking pain meds on day 2. Doing ALOT of walking (10,000steps per day). ..we got this!
February 15, 20179 yr Author Sleevinpops, I think so too. I at least haven't had any of the side effects others have had. But I also know the journey has just started
February 15, 20179 yr I had a RNY done on the 7th. Still a bit weak. Still sore. But over all I'm better. Hope your recovery goes well. Best of luck.
February 15, 20179 yr Author That's great! I'm hoping not to have to rely on pain medication much longer
February 15, 20179 yr Hey everyone had mine on 2/8/17 and I am struggling HARD with head hunger. Even though I can barely get down 2 protein shakes I want to eat 6 slices of pizza ! Anyone else feel this way?
February 15, 20179 yr Author I'm only two days out, but honestly I haven't had any cravings. I don't feel hunger either. I'm still hospitalized, so I have to drink the protein given to me here, the only thing that has helped me has been having the broth or creme soup after the shake. Hopefully your head hunger and craves go away
February 15, 20179 yr Absolutely! This seems to be the toughest part right now! I made some broth yesterday and the salt gave me a wicked craving for Doritos! I actually thought about just licking one just for the taste, but walked it off. I can't imagine two more weeks of this before I can start soft foods!
February 16, 20179 yr No never had head hunger! I was to worried about damaging my stomach at beginning. Maybe it'll go away ?!

Anyone else feel this way?I can relate. I had my surgery on 2/7 and have had a lot of head hunger. I am spending a lot of time looking at soft food recipes on pinterest. I know it is head hungry but it makes me nervous.
February 16, 20179 yr I will have mine next month ....eeeep! I'm excited and learning so much from you all, I have some many questions! Keep on keeping on Texasguy! It sounds like you are off to a great start!
February 16, 20179 yr Author Thanks Sleevepanda, but I did terrible yesterday. I was only able to down two of my four shakes. I got home after discharged and I have slept twelve hours. I'll be back on trying the protein again and water intake. I just don't feel the hunger and nausea isn't helping any. But we just have to worry about protein and water intake for now. Wishing the best for all those beginning their journey like me.
February 16, 20179 yr There can't be a journey without a few bumps on the road! Learn from a "bad" day and keep going! Good luck!

Wishing the best for all those beginning their journey like me.Texas, (and all post sleevers) I have been drinking a protein water called Trimino. It has 7 grams of protein and helps keep me on the protein target along with the Protein Shakes..You can find it on amazon. Just an FYI for another option
February 16, 20179 yr Author Thanks for pointing it out. The one I'm on isn't that bad, it's nectar sweets, but due to my nausea and feeling full I just can't down anything. Today has been good so far, 2 down one to go. Haven't been able to walk much either.
February 17, 20179 yr I think the walking was the best thing for the process. Hope you feel better soon! Do you use a Fitbit? If so, friend me for activity challenges if you want. Im at vban@charter.net
