Everything is progressing really well. I have small pains every once and a while internally beneath my incisions, but nothing that even requires pain medication. I am progressing through my food phases well, and I was able to eat 1/2 a scrambled egg this morning with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese. It tasted so good! I haven't lost any weight this week, which I kind of expected. I have lost 25 lbs since I started my pre-op diet, so I am ok with a stall right now. Can't wait to start really working out so I can start building some muscle.

I still have dermabond glue on a few of my incisions, but it has fallen off a couple, and they look really good. I will post a picture once all of the glue falls off.

Hey Carrie, I think you and I must of had surgery very close to the same day. Mine was the 16th of January. I've done the clear/full liquids and am on pureed and slowly advancing to soft just today. I get full super fast with real food but liquids are pretty easy on me. I think my stomach is probably still quite swollen thus the full/tight feeling with foods. How are you doing with swelling in your tummy and discomfort with food?

@"Diva T", when I was drinking just fluids, it felt like I didn't even have surgery done. I had hardly any restriction. When I got approved to eat cottage cheese, I felt restriction immediately. Some things, like yogurt and applesauce, go down pretty easily. Even mashed sweet potatoes go down pretty easy. However, well cooked spaghetti squash was a little difficult. I just started eggs and Beans today. I had no problems with the eggs at all, but then I had refried Beans with a little sour cream, and those sat pretty heavy in my stomach. They sure were delicious though. And the best part...I could only eat about 2oz! Over time, we should be able to eat about 4oz at a meal. My tummy does feel swollen in general. For example, I can tell that my pants are getting looser to the point that I can probably go down one size, but the waist is still a little snug. I think this is just because my stomach is still swollen from the surgery. Any discomfort I have had from food is really temporary. Sometimes I feel like if I had eaten just one bite less, I would not have the discomfort. Fortunately, I have not vomited at all, and have tolerated each new food really well.

Thanks for you words Carrie. I thought I was doing damage to my new stomach with eating but I see it is pretty normal. I think I'm just having some pretty significant swelling in the stomach still. I'll just slow way down and take it easy. I go back to work on the 13th of Feb so I've got 8 days of healing to go! This forum is really helpful and am happy to be a part of such a wonderful community! :D

@"Diva T", good luck going back to work. It was tough for me in the beginning, but I have been back for a week and a half, and it is almost back to normal for me now. I have good days and bad, but it is mostly fatigue that slows me down a bit. I don't really have any pain.

I'm just getting concerned on the restriction when eating. I just ate 4 dime sized bites of soft egg with cheese and am feeling major restriction and feeling uncomfortable. Is this normal? Maybe am swallowing air? I don't know feeling a bit discouraged. Opinions and personal experience welcomed!

I can only eat 1/2 an egg at a time. My doctor told me that ahead of time so that I wouldn't be scared by it. Over time, you should be able to eat a full egg. Some people can even eat 2. My doctor said to only worry if I can't swallow at all, or if I can't keep anything down. Can you call your doctor and share your concerns?

@"lauraf", the restriction is quite fascinating. I kept telling my husband that I didn't think they took a portion of my stomach at all since liquids were so easy. Soft foods changed that feeling. I was so worried that I would still be able to eat whatever, and NOPE! Even if I wanted to, I can't fit more than 2oz at a meal right now.

I am 20 days out

Week 1: spoonfuls to 1/2 oz

Week 2: 1 oz 1/2 scrambled egg

Week 3: 1 oz whole egg. No cheese

Week 4: starting to get in 1.5 oz

I measure everything and time my intervals of food and Water.

I wait 50 minutes before I drink after eating. I wait 15 minutes after drinking to eat.

It's time consuming and I go back to work this week.

Yeah I go back on the 13th and am a little concerned about the time it takes to eat and keep hydrated too. Also the energy it takes to work is not going to be there with so few calories. I know we will all adjust to the new us but it will be dicey for a bit am sure. I'm to start working from home the 20th of this month and feel that will make things much easier for all the activities involved and help me establish the new habits needed to be victorious!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
