Need advice asap!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I'm about 6 weeks almost 7 weeks post op this upcoming Monday. I've lost 30lbs overall since the last time I weighed myself which was on my one month post op on 1/12/17. However, I'm not seeing a difference or feeling much different and am beginning to feel discouraged. Does anyone have any advice? I don't want to feel like this anymore.

Also, what is or was everyone eating at this point in their journey?

At week 9 post-op RNY gastric bypass surgery, I transitioned to solid foods (such as chicken and steak). But this transition was difficult so I relied primarily on softer foods such as home made high Protein chili and Soups. As my meal volume increased, the Protein that I derived from my meals increased and as a result I was able to begin to offload my Protein shakes and the calories these Protein Shakes contained. I put some of the recipes at the end of a short article about my experience. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf

I've been relying on softer foods and soups as well. It's been hard trying to keep any solids down thus far. How is your progress?

Did you take pictures? I do pictures once a month. I didn't notice until I put my before picture next to my more recent ones. Also take your measurements. I do arm, chest, waist hips, thigh.

No, I have not. I wanted to wait until my 3 month post op to do so. However, it may help to start doing so now I guess since I'm not seeing much of the difference...

I've been having this same issue and other people haven't been noticing either. My clothes don't really fit that differently and I've been asked, "Have you gotten your surgery yet?" too many times. ????

Way too early to be worrying about this. It will happen. It takes time. Take pictures and measurements. It took 20-30 to start seeing it in pictures. I'm down almost 70 and it is just I. The last few weeks people are really noticing and starting to comment.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
