I'm only 11 days out but this is my 5th day at the same weight. Today's weight was actually up a tad. I'm only consuming 300-400 calories. I'm getting about 30-40 grams of Protein and about 48oz Water. I'm trying to keep calm/not compare etc etc but I'm starting to think I should be doing something differently and that I'm wasting precious first weeks time! Do in need to chill or reevaluate? I was cruising in the beginning losing a pound or 2 a day. Sighhhh

Your body is trying to heal and needs to hold onto Water to do so. No worries! The early days are about healing from surgery and learning how to drink and eat. The true weight loss (fat loss) happens later.

Put away the scale! If you must have a record, do once weekly weigh ins. (And maybe let someone else do the record keeping!)

You need to chill and wait it out.

Not to worry - this is very common. The liquid diet you were on pre-op did a great job of depleting your glycogen stores and now your body has to rebalance, especially its Fluid retention.

For these first few weeks, just focus on staying hydrated and get your shakes in when able, and don't worry about what the scale says. You are losing weight, its just being offset on the scale by Water retention and inflammation from the surgery.

30-40 grams of Protein seems kind of low. Is that what your nutritionist recommended?

If you're not getting the full amount of Protein in daily then your body goes into starvation mode

my dr wants 60-80 g of Protein and 50-68 oz Water. Make sure to check the paperwork the dr or nutritionist gave you to check on those amounts.

Yes my Protein is low because my surgeons office said in recovery mode to just do what you can. I'm supposed to just either eat mushy foods or drink Protein shakes every 2 hours and that's where I've been ending up. It's SO frustrating that the scale hasn't moved in 6 days when I see people saying they lost 30 lbs the first few weeks. I know this is a long road and I need to relax and not compare it's just so so hard!

I do feel like I drink more than I urinate out (TMI) but perhaps I am simply retaining Water??

I'm supposed to be on 60-70g of Protein a day. I noticed when I didn't hit that amount is when the stall happened.

I am only 6 days post op and the Dr and nutritionist said to not worry about the Protein right now. Take time to heal and try to get the Fluid intake in. I think we're expecting to see results quickly, but we just went through surgery and can't be so hard on ourselves. It will come off...well, I keep telling myself that

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
