Failed psychological evaluation

Recommended Posts

So I had failed psych evaluation test back in August and the psychologist told me to take 3 to 6 months session with a psychiatrist . I completed the requirements, so he wrote a letter saying that he approves me for weight loss surgery. Now my insurance is saying that they does not have enough information has anyone ever took the psychological evaluation test failed? what are the insurance company looking for?

You might want to get those results and go b over it with your PCP. Your Insurance is looking for medical necessity..

@Georgia_gal24I hate to tell you this but theres probably a good reason your doctor failed your psych. I had a friend who failed her psych the first time. She went to a different doctor and they passed her but she was NOT ready for surgery. She does everything she should do...drinks while eating, still drinks pop, eats out for every meal. She was not ready for the psychological issues that go along with surgery. It is a mentally taxing thing to go out with friends and watch them enjoy a meal and you can only take two bites and then you're done. You need to be emotionally ready to understand that you'll have stalls and your friendships may change or you may even lose friendships or your family may not understand.

I know its frustrating but your insurance company wants to make sure you will succeed at this because if it doesn't, they'll be paying even more for you for revisions or other medical services.

I'm sorry but good luck and keep going! Be strong! Feel free to check out my blog. I write a lot about being emotionally ready for surgery.

Thank you for replying and you are right. I am not mentally ready because I haven't changed my eating habits yet..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
