Starving 6/7 days post op

Recommended Posts

Is it actual stomach hunger or head hunger? I'm never physically hungry but always mentally hungry. I struggle with this daily so this is what I do. I plan my meals the night before, note them on my fitness tracker and set a timer for my Breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2 Snacks. When my timer goes off I eat. I only eat when it goes off and the foods I planned the night before. If in between I get "hungry" I ask myself if it's my stomach or if it's my head. Every single time it's been my head.

I know it's not easy, be strong

It's definitely real stomach hunger. I'm hoping once I'm able to eat something it will get better.

I'm 2 weeks post op. I'm feeling some kind of hunger. Starting purée so may maybe getting some food now after 3 weeks of liquids, maybe that will help. But I do think there's head hunger in there.

Hey @@Jazzle I'm doing better. I'm only taking 2pain pills before bed to help me sleep. If not I seem to wake up in pain. I'm a very restless sleeper and I think all that moving pulls on my incisions. I'm slowly walking 45 minutes on my treadmill a day. Monday I see my dr. I'll probably go onto the pureed phase and find out what exercises I can do. I'm happy to start both. I'm still starving but dealing with it. No problem getting in 64 oz of fluids and 80 grams of Protein and Vitamins. But it is a full time job that I have to constantly be aware of what time it is and make sure in staying on schedule. Still have buyer's remorse. Hopefully it will go away soon once I can exercise. Maybe it's part of these stupid emotions I've been having. But I am going through a divorce so shoot I'm not even sure what normal is anymore. Current weight is 186. I am a every day weigher ( if that's even a word) no fluctuations yet just steadily down. Still have to be real careful about bending down. Squatting works best not to pull on these little buggers. Ultimately each day gets easier and easier ????

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
