Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

My daughter has been doing some research and found a few articles stating that cider vinegar stops acid reflux. Her fella was suffering badly and downed a mouthful of Sarsons malt vinegar, it stopped it immediately.

So next time I will be trying this, bought some cider vinegar yesterday as my fill is this thursday. I'll be the guinea pig and let you know lol.

Hi Guys

I am now just over 3 weeks post op and find I can eat pretty much anything as long as I chew it well - is that normal

The only things so far I have stuggled with are bread and tuna - both of these have caused pain

I even managed to go out for Easter lunch with my daughter - I ordered from the kids menu which caused a stir - size 20 woman ordering a kids meal - you can imagine

I get my first fill on 22nd but I am thinking now that its not working - did anyone else go through this

Thanks

Kerry

Hi Kerry

I am the same as you I feel an indigestion like pain if I eat maybe a little too fast or choose something that doesnt go down too well. Anyway I guess we will see the difference when we get our first fill, mines on 8 April. I now know that as my insides have repaired themselves and everything is "normal" that I can eat normally as such, but thankfully in smaller quantities, which sometime makes me feel hungry a few hours later as I only eat a small portion at one sitting. I took my poor starving (ha ha ) wife out to dinner this evening I only manage 3/4 of a portion of chcken breast and half a baked potatoe and a fork full of peas, some something seems to be working, mind you bless her she tucked into an Easter special full turkey roast and loved it, and finished before I did too. Seems I am doing the right thing and eating slowly or by heck I feel it!

My weight seems to be on a plateau few ounces up n down each day, but we're past the first stone marker and I can't wait until it starts again, maybe after Thursday when I go back to liquids after my fill will give it a kick start... I hope so any way. Next stop my Sons wedding on 8th May then off for a well earned week "Self Catering" in the sun in Turkey on 10th May. Looking forward to both so much.

My wounds are all nearly healed up now, but still feel the old port reminding me its there regularliy especially in bed ...ouch:ohmy:

Would anyone please let me know what to expect to feel like after fill number one, so I know what to expect?

Thanks and take care everyone.

Paul

Hi Freckles

Do you know that cider prices went up again in the budget??? lol

You must be rich to afford such high luxuries ha ha

Hi Paul and Freckles,

Hoping to see you both on Thursday, I'm just about to email Freddyboy now to ask if he can see me. I've left it a bit late but needed to be sure my finances would allow this month's fill, lol.

Paul, don't get your hopes up too much regarding your first fill having any effect. It didn't for me unfortunately. I was supposed to be on liquids for a couple of days afterwards, but by the following morning I was hungry again and back to normal eating levels. You may feel more of a difference than I did, but I've never heard anyone say the first makes any difference. I've well and truly stopped losing weight, not shifted any for the last 4 weeks, but I'm happy I've not put any of what I originally lost back on.

Fingers crossed that fill number 2 helps a little bit for me. I've given up smoking though so I'm not too concerned so long as I don't gain weight really, for now. I'm starting to feel like I have a bit more energy, even bought myself a bike! Let's just hope I don't buckle the back wheel, lol.

Carrie Jess - CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm really happy for you hun. :smile2:

Hi all

Well I'm back home now, and 2 days post op. I can't believe I did it!

The recovery room was so frightening I thought I was dying! I hadnt realised that I was choking because they were removing the breathing tube from my mouth, I just remember the feeling of not being able to breathe and that I was taking short sharp breathes in. It scared the life out of me!!

Then I was freezing cold and shivering ,ike mad, and I was given one of those inflatable heated blanket thing,s which sorted me rtight out. But although I could barely keep my eyes open I was too afraid to close them for long becuase I was convinced I wouldnt wake up (the choking feeling scared me!!)

The whole time I was lying there wishing I hadnt gone though with it purely becuase I was so frightened during rovery period. But I was so glad to realise I was 'coming to' and could go back to my room.

My partner came with me and he was just superb, I couldnt wish for a better bloke. He did everything for me. I was desperate for a pee and I couldnt move for the pain so he put a bedpan under me, then took it away, then put it back we went on like this for a good 2 hours.

Eventually I said I would just have to try and get to the loo, he pretty much carried me to the loo, and after much ooohhing and ahhhing I managed a little widdle haha.

And then he went to the shop to find me some yoghurt and came back with some beautiful Svarowski earrings (aswell as yoghurt btw)

He's changed all my dressings for me and done my injections. As well as driving 6 hours today to get me home in one piece.

Well so far I am bruised to hell and still quite sore, and can feel the pulling on the port side just as others have described (which makes me feel a bit relieved tbh).

Yesterday 1 day post op I ate some Soup, and a yoghurt and a fair bit of Water.

Today I've had a bowl of Soup, milk, yoghurt, and I thought I'd tried some baby food - its surprisingly tasty.

I'm going to book for my 1st fill on May 4th in London.

Just got your email too, lol. You are right, it's a disgusting habit, I've been trying (and failing) to kick it for a couple of years now, but it's a 21 year addiction that appearently is almost as hard to kick as heroin according to my lovely nurse from the GP.

I'll ask Freddyboy if he has an appointment around that time and look out for someone in the waiting room who could rival him in the looks department, that would be you right? :smile2:

Freddy is dreamy :(

Jojo have you read Allen Carr's book? Easyway to stop smoking?

I've been stopped for a couple of weeks now, and I thought his book would be a pile of shite, but all my friends positivley raved about it.

I have no desire to smoke at all. And I think there's a bit of subconsious hypnotism going on in the book haha but I dont care becuase it worked a bloody miracle for me!

Honest, go get it from Amazon (about 1p!!) and I bet you stop smoking!

ps forgot to add - I was a 20-30 a day smoker for 23 years.

Cheers luv and well done to you too.

I did 2 days of patches because I didnt believe the book and was scared. So i re read the last 2 chapters and binned the patches. This thing everyone tells you about cravings and pangs and depression etc is bullshit! it's a lie to keep us in fear. Its only fear of quitting that keeps us smoking, I bet neither us would actually chose to smoke if we had a real choice. Allen Carr was dead right, it is easy to stop smoking and it is enjoyable too. I wish he were still alive, I'd love to tell he was spot on!

I swear to god it's piss easy to stop smoking , haha i sound like a mental, but it worked for me when i didnt think anything would.

So now I have a stash of patches and the inhaltor things and a hypnotism cd sat on the shelf completely untouched haha

One thing I remeber from the book was about nicotine replacement therapy. He says that NRT is pish becuase all you do is take the additictive drug by another method, like heroin, instead of injecting today; lets snort instead. You're still addicited to the very thing that you're trying to quit.

the man was a genious!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
