Thanks Gary you really are a very genuine, kind guy but I think Ive got the gist of it and to be truthfull I really dont want to think about it. Just go, knock me out and get it over and done with. My man thinks hes going for a jolly!!! What I might be interested later on though, is maybe going with you to one of the support groups you were talking about if that would be OK. Anyway is there a book on whos going to win the race between you and Bobo and whats the odds? Thanks again J x

Hi all,

I've not been on for ages and theres lots of posts to read. Welcome to all the newies you are in the right place. Between us all there is someone to answer any questions you might have.

I've been to Bristol this morning to have my first fill of 3ml. I was so pleased when weighed to find I have now lost 12 kilo's - YIPPEE........ Although Frederic did warn me that it will slow down now. I don't mind the weight loss slowing down, I'm just sooooooo happy that it won't go back on again.

Good luck to all the peeps being banded soon.

Good luck also to the park prowlers! Ha ha.

Westie x

Hey guys

just got bank from London for my first fill and Dr Chris said he was really pleased with me, i have lost 21pounds since surgery day!!!!! He gave me the choice of 2, 2 1/2 or 3 ml in my band, i went for three ml as thought i would get my moneys worth!!!!

Also went to harrods and bought a bag and also to maddam tussauds so its been a lovely day!!!!

About the arnica tablets, think this is a new thing people have started taking for surgery on here as i was never advised by anyone to take them so didn't and i didn't get any bruising! Not sure you do get any bruising actually but don't quote me on that!!!!!

Hi Homecare thanks for that will start on the tablets today then:smile:

im feeling fine looking forward to it just a bit worried incase Dr Chris cant do the surgery for some reason............

mmm mentioned in another post that a friend wasnt aloud to have the surgery done for 3 x months as she had taken zantac??(dont know why)??

i do tend to take the tesco own brand or rennies if i get heartburn anytime so a wee bit worried now:ohmy:

saying that had liver tests done about 8 months ago and everything was fine according to my GP.

being honest sooner the better for me cant wait!

re the flight i think what happens is if you check in online at least 24 hrs before dept you can print oput your boarding pass then all you have to do is drop off bags at the "bag drop" seemingly?

all the best anyway:cool2:

Well done all you losers especially Odge & Westie. You're all doing fantastic!!!

About the arnica tablets, I've posted a link here from the bbc that you might like to read.

BBC NEWS | Health | Homeopathic remedy 'ineffective'

I am pretty sceptical about homeopathic remedies but I have to admit I am taking the milk thistle tablets " just in case" I too am a wee bit worried about the state of my liver coz I've given it a battering over the past 20 odd years:ohmy:

BTW Garry, Bobo & Flirty I've been warned about the dangers of the internet and some of the dodgy sites that might corrupt an impressionable young "ahum" girl like me but I am SHOCKED to the core of my apple to find out that this is one such site

Hi Everyone,

I am from Ireland and I am hoping to have surgery with Dr. Chris soon. I have been researching with ages and he seems to be one of the best!

Well, I propbably have a long road ahead of me cos I have about 6 or 7 stone to lose:sad:. I can remember seeing a direct e-mail to Frederik on one of the pages but can't for the life of me find it now, would someone be so kind as to post it? Im hoping to save a few pounds going direct with him. I have so many questions I don't know where to start. A mixture of nerves and excitement at the prospect of (possibly) being a normal? weight for once in my adult life.

Anyways, just wanted to say a big HI, you are all an inspiration to me,

wobbly

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
