Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

All I can say is Dr Chris is a fabulous surgeon. Maybe someone else can help on the other bits as I'm not sure. U are making the right decision though. Let us know what u find out x

Guys - it still hurts getting liquids down. I'll see how it goes and phone WLS later me thinks. I forgot to say I kept waking myself up last night (well 3-4 times) as it felt like I was choking. Not nice eh? I'm trying a smoothie, it does go down but hurts a bit and feels like it's having a job to get down. Eeeek!

Hi Shelley the first date i was given was the 19 may and i said i would get back to them as soon as i could check flights and hotel . I got back to Bridgette the next day and the date had gone also the other ones at the end of may also had gone she did offer my one which was only a couple of day notice which i was too unprepared to do so this was the next available .I booked through europesurgery.co.uk tel 0208 1444254 and my journey began on the 20 April when i googled lap band surgery to see how much it would cost AND HERE I AM on my low fat diet today and having a great deal of emotions some days i think what if ? then other days i cant wait i'm just SO fed up with being fat all my life and the funny thing is I could have had this done 3 years ago on then NHS but the doctor ask me first to try a liquid diet and it worked but i was very motivated as I was coming up to my 50 birthday and about 20 of my family and friend decided it would be a good idea to go skiing and I new i would not find any think to fit me let alone ski which i never did by the way. Any way i lost 5 stone which has all gone back on and more and i feel so unfit and out of breath and hate myself in any thing that i wear that i have decided to have the lap band done my kids have had a moan about it , i think they are worried if any thing goes wrong but as i tell them if i don't lose weight that can be just as bad as i have high blood pressure which did go down when i lost weight so did my joint pain so I'm being positive and have told every one I'm having it done and i am looking at a good 18 months or more to get down so this is were my journey starts . I had a lovely Sunday lunch and pudding and a bottle of wine yesterday and to day have stated my new beginning sorry for going on so much but once i got started i could not stop suefee xx

sammy, it felt like that for about two days after i last had fill. itstill felt tight for another few more days, then it felt just right for about 3 weeks so i missed the next fill and..i still have restriction but im just having the smallest amount poss put in tomorrow, after 6 weeks, you are prob where i was..if so,it will ease and you will just have very good restriction lets hope.. so be very carefull at your next app, you prob wont be having a fill for a while now as an overfill is not nice, so just go carefully..as you lose the weight the band loosens anyway, and you lose that restriction. its always tighter in the morning anyway.. youll prob lose a good amount this week at least..take care x

Thanks Gillian - that's put my mind at rest a bit. I've managed to drink half glass of smoothie and a small amount of Water. I will defo be taking it easy!! I'll see how I get on for the next few days. As long as I don't get dehydrated it should be OK. I don't think I'll be having a fill next appointment!! Also will be gonig to Tenerife in 4 weeks so will need to mention it as really DON'T wanna feel like this on holiday!! Plus it'll be hotter. I just panick a bit especially as I'm on my own for the next couple of weeks with Harrison my baby and don't want to get weak for his sake!!

Did you feel as if u were choknig at all during the night!!

i did a bit, and its alarming, especially as it jumped me awake, and i just go to bathroom and had few small sips of water, but it will ease off..you may be best not having a fill before you go away as all flights tighten band up i believe, but they get really tight after 4 hours so you must have unfill for that..and it would be bad if you got there and found it difficult to drink, esp if its hot. im sure youll be fine energy wise over next couple of weeks, just keep your drinks up, i lost about 5lb in the week after i had a fill like yours..i kept my calories up enough by drinking those nescafe type sachets of coffee, instant chocca mocha i had, sweet and satisfying..i dont count calories at all now, its just portion sizes, and the amount of time it takes to eat them thats working for me..and i must admit i do still have my chocolate..i know ill get told off but when i was really tight, it was a way of getting some calories down! and i still lost that 5lb, and continuing to lose steadily too, not a vast amount only 4-6lb a month at mo, but thats nearly a stone in 2 months..and 6 stone in a year nearly!..well thats way i look at it anyway!..and..the best bit..you dont put any of it back on!..im not in a rush, and i know that the weight is harder to get off the nearer you are to your ideal weight..so im looking at next summer for my "reveal" now! we will get there..just best not to rush and get used to each fill and not miss out, and not make ourselves feel uncomfortable. we know now that this is not a magic wand, and we have to work with it..your doing great.. and im happy with how its working for me..altho some people i know think i should be a size zero by now with the amount of money i paid for a 'magic diet band', and its not working!..they dont understand it.ill show em next year!! x

Michael took out 2.9mls, so there's no leak. I am sooooo relieved.

He said ok, I will put in 5 now, and then you have to drink a cup of Water while you're here.

As per usual I had a bit of trouble getting it down, and he got onto it straight away as much as I tried for him not to see, cos on my first fill I was the same, then the next day no restriction...and I told him that. He didnt care.

And he insisted he take some out:unsure: He said he had a bad feeling about it, and didnt want me to be overfilled over the weekend.

I now have 4.5 mils in, my band which holds between 9 & 11 mils.

At least I'm on my way woo hoo :frown:

glad to hear it ma darlin good one ye, you must be relieved.

Gx

Hello Everyone,

I'm from Ireland. I am 37, married and have four children. Gosh, I feel like I know you all so well already! It's taken me a whole week to read this entire blog. You are all truely amazing and inspirational. Reading this has made up my mind for me. I've been in touch with Fred and am hoping to be banded on June 2nd. I'm scared but also so excited. I've tried all diets under the sun and just feel that I have such a tough mountain to climb that the band will help me get a head start but I'm certain I will reach the top of this mountain this time for sure. I'll look forward to meeting you all up there!!

My one concern was migration, but having asked Fred about it I feel confident I should be ok. He said Dr Chris has banded over 4,000 and hasn't any cases of migration. He says it usually happens 18-24 months post surgery and is a result of filling the band too much too soon. I have about 9 stone to lose to be the correct weight for my height but even if I lost 4 or 5 stone I'd be so so happy. I feel so down all the time about my weight. All week I've been reading this blog, my husband says I'm obsessed which I suppose I am but I always have been obsessed with my weight. I'm so looking forward to being a normal weight, go into normal shops and pick a top the colour I want, not just the colour that's in my "big" size.

Looking forward to joining you in the banter and thanks for all the help you gave me in making this life changing decision.:frown:

shelly, sounds like your just the same s everyone of us so you go for it girl you will get just about all the support you need on here> just ask no matter how trivial.

Garryx

try the instant coffee drinks i told you about..the boxes have about 5 sachets in..or hot chocolate drink..not the diet ones tho, they are disgusting!..youll be back onto Soups in couple of days and then meals next week i woulda thought..just remember to get some calories down you, as you need some to keep you operating ok..the luxury soups in tubs are nice esp marks n spencer cream of oakham chicken! and marco pierre white indian chicken..expensive but they will last 2 or 3 meals per tub. i found smoothies bit thick actually in first few days..best with slimfast ready made shakes, got all your vits and mins too..someone else said the V8 drinks too were good x

Thanks for all the advice guys. The only thing is I feel really guilty spending all this money on me, did anyone else feel like that?

Gillian thanks for reasuring me about the under active thyroid.

Moneyp23 I would have loved to be your band buddy but my son is graduating on the 3rd of July.

Gary thanks for advice.

Anyway got an email from the doc asking for height weight etc, how long does it take for him to get back to you with dates etc. So impatient, anxious, nervous!!!!

Morning guys. I could do with a bit of advice please. I think basically I've had a bit of an overfill on Saturday. It still is uncomfortable drinking anything even Water. Last night I had to prop myself up in bed as when i lay on my tummy/side I could feel gurgles and like I was producing a bit of saliva. Anyway I'm OK if it's likely to loosen over the next day or so. Has anyone else had this?

Mmm - what did it feel like when u had that hic-cup incident? Do you feel OK now?

It's one extreme to another!!

Hi hunny, that exactly how it was with me but the hiccups started the first night as well. On day 3 I could eat some mushy stuff but only a teaspoon at a time but mostly lived off drinking choc and drinks, after about 7 days I could eat some things not most things tho. Its now over 2 weeks and I'm still quite selective in what I can eat (some days are tighter than others) but the weight is flying off, si its worth it, hang on in there PM me if you want a chat and I'll ring you. Love mmm

should prob get back to you within 48hrs, if not sooner with offer of surgery and maybe a date.they are bit slow but get back to you. glad your feeling better about thyroid..i think it helped me to put on extra weight years ago when it was undiagnosed, and i felt terrible..you should get it checked every 6 months or so after your op as losing the weight may change your dosage, im having my TFTs in few weeks. i felt very guilty spending the money on me..felt selfish when we had no savings and a 3k tax bill due at the same time..then my husband who is a plumber/gas fitters work dried up. he never said anything but i knew if i cancelled id have been a pain to live with (even more than usual!) and i may miss my chance of doing this one thing for myself after years of putting the family first.i had to do it. i saved a half of the money up from ebay sales etc over 2 to 3 years, took a bank loan out for a third, and put the other on credit card, and used my overdraft to the max. BUT!!..what i am paying back on loans etc, the money i save on groceries now almost covers it..ill be paying for next 4 years tho!..so best get those fills going up so i can get eating less and pay it all off!.so really it is worth it..it will pay for itself in few years! and you will be healthier and maybe even add years to your life. if i hadnt had it, i would be one of those people you see in the newspaper that they have to knock down a house wall and lift them out by crane for a hosp appointment!. i was putting 1 to 2 stone on every year...you wont regret it, its not selfish, you deserve it...we wouldnt put ourselves thro the op ,discomfort and pay out all that money if it wasnt right?.. you will be helping yourself and your family in the years to come, youll be able to do more....and the best bit..youll look great doing it!..this is for you, dont feel guilty x

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
