My gastric sleeve will be on February 15th!!! After the phone call I was so nervous and not excited at all. After a few days of letting it sink in I'm starting to get excited for this amazing journey ahead. I would love to make friends with other February sleevers! I have been very private about my surgery and could use the support.

Congratulations! I was not excited at first. I actually had been recommended it by 4 doctors before I got into the required Options classes through Kaiser. The only way the surgeons would fix my hernia (that was HUGE), was if I first lost a lot of weight. All of them (except my primary care physician) believed weight loss surgery was the answer because I had been morbidly obese for 15 years. I did the classes, the psych eval, and the counseling. I opted for the bypass, but my hernia was too large and the surgeon said he would not do a bypass, only the sleeve. I almost backed out - I'm so glad I didn't!

I was sleeved 8/31/16. As I lost a great deal of weight, my hernia became very noticeable (the pic below you can see it - it's the bulge on the right side of my belly). I finally had my hernia repair surgery on 1/3/17. It took them 5 hours to fix it, but fortunately, my colon is still intact!

Having the sleeve surgery was the best decision in my life! I work out now (well, not right now because of my recent surgery - have to be cleared). I no longer am controlled by food. I play with my 4 and 3 year old grand babies. I no longer snore and sleep through the night. My hips no longer hurt. I had a BMI of 56 and now it's almost 35. I have been where you are, but I'm glad I had the surgery now.

Best of luck to the 15th group! I hope you sail through surgery. I'm 7 weeks out now and have had zero issues. I'm down 40 lbs. which is hard for me to even believe. I have been pretty open about telling folks but I kind of regret that.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
