As I suspected yesterday, I have not needed any pains meds today. I was able to get out of bed this morning with way less pain than the last few days. Today I feel very week and a bit dizzy. I think it is due to the low caloric intake. I am barely reaching 400 calories per day. I have been getting in over 70oz of liquids, and 60g of Protein, but I still feel pretty crappy today. Any suggestions on how to get your calories up while on Clear Liquids?

Less pain is a great thing, but the best thing about today is that I actually had a bowel movement late last night, and another one this morning! Small ones, but I cannot begin to explain the relief that it brought!

I am not hungry at all! I have to force myself to sip all day. I am so scared of getting dehydrated that I am really pushing myself to get my fluids in. It feels like a full time job!

I am 3 days post up but everything hurts after a spoon full or 2. Trying to get in the sips of Water is equally difficult. I don't want to get dehydrated but not much of anything will go down except for a sugar free popsicle and only one of those at a time.

First, congratulations on your surgery!

It sounds like you are doing great on getting your liquids and Protein... and those are so important.

While you are on the liquids stage you won't be able to get too many more calories than what you are already getting. The only suggestions I have are to drink a little more Protein shake if you want to up the calories, and the extra Protein is good for you. You can also use an unflavored Protein powder like powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury... it's great. You can mix it in cold no calorie drinks like Decaf tea, Powerade zero, crystal light. You can also mix it in chicken or beef broth, just be sure not to get the temperature too hot or it can leave protein clumps in your broth.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
