Hi everyone,

I will be having surgery January 31st. I'm nervous anxious and excited all at once. I haven't told too many people about the surgery with the exception of two co-workers (and they both assumed I was taking the easy way out and should just diet) but that's another story, my husband and personal trainer. Husband is on board because he wants me to be healthy but he doesn't seem to grasp what a life changing decision this is for me. He hasn't been to one single appointment with me but he offered to drop me off at the hospital day of surgery before he goes to work. Back off ladies, he's mine lol.

My trainer/friend is my only support system right now but she has so much going on in her life that I feel like I'm burdening her with my concerns.

Needless I'm pretty much on my own and I'm ok with that.

I'm doing this for myself and my kids. I don't want to be obese anymore. I want to run with them without getting winded. I want to take them to the park and play with them instead of standing, who am I kidding, sitting by the sidelines, I can't stand for too long without my knees and ankles hurting. I just want the old me back.

If there's anyone in the NYC area or even someone having surgery around the same time as me that would like to have a friend to talk to, I'd love that.

Hi zizi,

I found a great group of people from NYC/Long Island. Hop on over to the support group subforums. Here is the link:

there is some discussion about meeting up on the 28th at a coffee house in Hempstead. Maybe you can join us.

Congratulations!! Love your newly sleeved self!!! No matter what! Family can be so harmful without even realizing it. It sucks but it's still all good. Btw I love my big fat Greek wedding. Just put windex on it!! Lol

Seriously tho, I didn't tell my family because they can be so quick to criticize and the critical part of this whole procedure is how you cope mentally.

Our bodies are changing physically from the surgery but it's up to us to alter our mental state for more positive results. Can't have anyone adding any negativity!

So tell me, how was it? Did they give ya good pain meds? Cuz I'm a big time wuss and have very low tolerance for pain. Lol

Hi @@iKarma1408

The time is flying by. I'm almost there. Your date is not too far away either. Do you have to do a pre-op diet?

Yes, I start on the 30th. All liquids until my surgery. This will be the hardest thing I have done. It's when I know that I shouldn't eat that I really want to! ????????‍♀️

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
