Has anyone gone away on a vacation 3 months after surgery?

I love to go on cruises in the winter (not just for the food). I had my surgery January 4th and it is freezing in New York! I'm retired and bored to pieces. I am eating scrambled eggs and string cheese and should be on food 3 meals a day by then. Should I go???

Sure, go for it, as long as you are willing to commit to eating on-plan while on vacation. Many people look at vacation as a time of indulgence and a time to explore new and interesting foods, eating

  • Mherrera-we will be going to Domenican Republic for 8 days beginning of April too. Although I will be 5 months post op I still worry about it., especially being out on excursions. We go every year

I will be three months out in two days. I have not been away overnight yet, but will shortly be traveling (overnight) to rescue Mrs. LittleBill from a small tribe of midgets - a.k.a. the little monsters. She has been babysitting grandchildren for a week, and while she has had the time of her life, she is running out of steam. It will be interesting to see how it goes, as I will have to pack lots of food that I can eat to take with me. Fast food ain't in it for me.

My partner and I are heading back to the USA tomorrow after a 3.5 week tour of Southeast Asia. My surgery was September 28, so I wasn't quite 3 months post-op when we left on December 19. I have been fine. I have had a little trouble eating over here (everything sits really heavy for some reason), and some of my go-to options like string cheese and cottage cheese just aren't really available where we have been. Our second hotel room (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) randomly had a scale in the bathroom, and I saw that I lost 10 pounds in the first 10 days we were gone. I haven't been able to weigh since then (about 2 weeks ago), but clothes I brought with me are too big now, so I know I have lost more since then.

I have focused the trip on the experience outside of eating and food. It's all about the decisions you make with what you have to work with. Go, enjoy, and have a good time!!
