They are arrange of sizes. I hope they come arround. I gave my fiance 3 months to adjust to it and he called it a unnecessary surgery and didnt support me so i broke the engagement off yesterday. It's really hard thanks for you guys ... Atleast you all support me

My mom was so opposed to the surgery I decided not to have it, now after almost 2 years I still lose and gain the same 20-25 lbs all day everyday, I am back to my nutrition classes and have about four months to go. My mom is acting like she's going to disown me but she's my best friend and she's just scared and won't change her mind but I am not doing this for her and she isn't the one carrying around an extra 80 - 100 lbs every day.

Is you finance over weight? How about your family members? Very often these reactions are about their issues with weight. Someone else making changes threatens them.

You are so young and your life is just starting. Please don't live your life to please others. And, as Hollyhock just said, think carefully about getting married to someone who gets angry at you for wanting to improve your appearance and health.

My experience that my fat friends have been the least supportive. Even the ones who don't know I have had WLS but notice that I've lost some weight manage to piss me off. One of them recently told me she thought I'd lost enough weight! Seriously? Um... I weigh 235 POUNDS, I am morbidity obese.[/quote

Maybe he is just trying to make you feel good by saying its "unnecessary (meaning he loves you the way you are)". Sounds like he thinks you are doing it just for insecurities and looks. Which is understandable. Try not to be too hard on him. He just needs more education on it.

I had a hard time trying to get my family to support me but they just don't want to so screw em . They even refused to take me to the hospital so I have a best friend on standby, thank God for great friends, also his sister had the surgery and she did great .

This is why I told no one prior to my sleeve surgery. Best thing i couldve done. After the surgery, I did tell some close friends when i went on a girls trip and boy did the judgements flow!! Now that I'm considering sleeve to bypass revision, i told my mom i was "considering" it and she called me a few days later and told me i was gonna die on the table, yada, yada, etc. Told my boyfriend i was "considering" the revision surgery, he flipped and went on a "join the gym" rant. So back to dont ask, dont tell for me.

I'm not familiar with the sleeve to bypass revision. Looking at your numbers on your profile you've been extremely successful with the sleeve, what is the benefit of a revision (NOT judging, just genuinely curious).

As everyone has mentioned, this is your decision. Many times people respond in a negative way because of fear? Whatever their fear is, is theirs. You have one life to live and you should live in a way that makes your happy and proud. Yes it is great to have support, buuut at the end of the day, the decision is yours. You are putting yourself first to take care of your health and anyone who loves you is going to be there be it now or later. I also suggest looking at ClusieL on YouTube. She is awesome! Will be praying for you and sending you positive vibes for your surgery next week! *hugs*

@Tufflaw No problem! I gained all of my weight back and I have GERD. No excuse here; I went back to my old habits and my sleeve is stretched. (For some reason, I can not update my signature....)

...and when I told my un-supportive boyfriend that I hated the way I felt and looked and this was going to affect our sex life, he changed his tune...!! ;)

Ah, makes sense then. I have GERD too, have you tried Prilosec? The generic form is Omeprazole, I've had a prescription for a few years so all I pay are co-pays.

Re: The revision - have you looked into some type of support group or counseling to work on underlying issues? If you "went back to old habits" after the sleeve, the same might unfortunately happen after a revision. I know a few people personally who have had bypass surgery, lost a ton of weight, and put it all back on a few years later.

I have but I have not "acted" on it, if you know what I am saying. Within the last two years, I had ALOT of emotional, unfortunate events happen and I am an emotional eater and also BIG time binge eater. I haven't pulled the trigger on the revision just yet. I got a script from my PCP for the GERD so we will see what happens. I am at a crossroads right now. I just may try the pouch reset, etc. I dont know....

Well, I wish you the best of luck! Re: the GERD, once I started taking Omeprazole it was like magic, all symptoms immediately stopped.

I've decided to tell some people but have received mixed reactions. I'm excited and it's my decision only so I'm ignoring bad reactions and not dwelling on it. I know what I'm doing and am eager to prove it. It's not the easy way. It's a lifetime commitment. I'm astounded by the courage and support I see here. Thankful for this community.

This is a decision that requires a level of courage that a LOT of people don't have. Change in general is not always welcome, so there will always be resistance from someone in your life. We ALL commend you for taking the step to change the trajectory of your life. Those who are fighting you are doing so from their own fear, not their love for you.

Don't make their fear your problem - you will be the ONLY ONE on the operating table, and their words will probably become even angrier as your success becomes more evident. This is an important life lesson for you - not everyone in your corner is truly with you. The same thing will happen when your career takes off and you start making more money than some of your current friends and extended family. The same thing will happen when you get a house (your first, or the first that is bigger than theirs). Not everybody wants to see you succeed on your own terms. They want your life to be on their terms, and not according to your own life journey. Be Excited for yourself !!! Doing the right thing means that life will work out for you JUST FINE.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
