faithmd i just went on the obesity website that you told me about and found out some info on dr.lalor it didnt say much. one thing that i have to find out is if he is board certified. it said that that info wasnt available,(thats weird) it also said that the was a general surgeon. i emailed the director of the program with some questions but i hope she doesnt email them to him like she did before. he probably thinks that i am difficult because i ask so many questions

Any doctor worth his SALT should be pleased as punch with an inquisitive patient. It shows they are taking an active interest in their own body. It makes me CRAZY when I talk to people who take medications and have procedures...I say, "So what are you taking and how much, or what did you have done?" and they go, "Oh I don't know. It's a just a blue pill, or, I don't know. I was in the hospital for two days and they "fixed it." I want to know what I am taking, how much, how it works. I want to know the ins and outs of procedures....everything. I don['t want to be blindsided by anything and I want to be as knowledgeable as possible.

i just found out that my surgeon is referring me to the other doctor in the same practice. he needs two lapband patients to become certified in maine seeming how he is new here and im the only one who wants the lapband. i probably will meet with the other doctor soon, wish me luck i heard that she prefers the bypass and is quite assertive with her patients.

I think you should try a third opinion as well. If she "prefers" the bypass, then it's possible that she's just more familiar with it. Doesn't necessarily mean it's the right one for you. Talk to as many people as you can.....read read read this web site. I encouraged you to inform yourself about BOTH surgeries. Then YOU can make an educated decision! Good luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
