January Surgeries

Recommended Posts

Hi there. I am getting bypass tomorrow.

I am a mixed bag of emotions today. Took the day off from work, mainly because I cannot concentrate on anything but my surgery. Also thought it would be a good idea to flit around my house getting loose ends wrapped up.

I am excited to start on my journey to a healthier, more weight, body confident me!

Wishing you all success and support on your journey.

@@wiresandwood, I'm glad you are feeling better. My surgeon mentioned it will get better gradually. Even though you get to eat porridge, are you feeling hungry?

Right now I feel basically zero hunger, and I'm just trying to force myself to get in some nutrition! I find it really hard to get in enough liquids and food. I'm sure it'll get a bit easier down the road, but right now it's still a bit uncomfortable.

Hang in there. I hope I experience the no hungry feeling as you. :-)

Congrats! And best of luck to you on your surgery tomorrow. I ended up going with the sleeve instead of the bypass. I had weighed the pros and cons with my physician and I am overall very healthy with no other complications that he thought the sleeve would be best so that's what I went with. I'm 4 days post op and doing great, don't even need the pain meds they sent me home with and yesterday I got in about 60oz of fluids.

@@nicole1171, that's great news! I initially wanted the sleeve, but surgeon said I'm a bypass would be better because I'm a sweets eater and I have gerd. :-/

Hi everyone- I had my gastric bypass on January 6th! Knock on wood I feel good. I am making it my priority to get my fluids and Protein jn! I feel like it is a full time job! I go back to the doctor on the 24th and at that point I will switch to soft foods! I hope everyone's recovery is going smoothly!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
