My name is Jaye and I have been a Gastric Bypass patient since 2010. I am six years out going in seven. I have been through ups and downs with the surgery. My highest weight when I got the surgery was 248 and my lowest weight was 135. In the 7 year time frame my weight has been up and down between 150-170. There are days I just do not want to eat because I get sick and throw my food back up and there are days I am just fine. Right now I am going through a situation where I have this pouch that looks like I am pregnant under my breastbone and my doctors tells me there is nothing there. I have constant pain like acid reflux, but my gall bladder was taken two months before my surgery. I am wondering if anyone else experiences this pain and has any suggestions. I will say I do not regret the surgery, but once you get past a certain amount of time doctors feel like they can do nothing for you...

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
