So I started my Preop diet yesterday, (still waiting on an actual date) I drink about 40 Oz Water yesterday and started to notice my urine was pale yellow by the end of the day...today I drink 48 Oz before having to "go" and noticed my urine was damn near translucent...I just drink my last 20 Oz for the day...my question is, is that healthy??? Especially for the second day of preop? I'm not really a big drinker of Water so it's a big shock to me.

Very healthy. We should all want our urine to be next to clear.

You are fine. Anytime you drink at least 40 Oz or more in water, your pee is clearer. I had mine to a point where it was clear. Just know it's a good thing.

Ok, because I looked it up and it said that urine should have a tinge of yellow...but if others are experiencing this I won't worry about it ????

Clearer is better. I'm about six months post and I usually gauge how hydrated I am by the color.

People with healthy kidneys who don't have to drink like fish to stay hydrated should always have a bit of yellow. Under normal circumstances, dilute urine would indicate that your kidneys aren't working right. But for your increased Water intake you should be seeing clearer urine. Until you start taking Multivitamins with B Vitamins in it- then expect very yellow pee!

Ok thank thank you! Before I started increasing my Water intake, by actually drinking Water. It was a light yellow with settlement...now there's no yellow and no settlement lol

My urine looks pale almost every time, every day. It means your hydrated! It's completely healthy and normal. I've been drinking mostly Water for like 16 years. Pre-op diet only has made me go more often.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
