I'm also 4 days post op. Feel fine except if I take too big a gulp then feels like it's stuck. Mourning the loss of food. Not really hungry but can't stop thinking about FOOD!

I am 5 day post op. Feel fine as well. I as well feel that I am mourning the loss of food. It seems that the commercials are all of food suddenly..stay strong.

I don't I'm missing food that much. I just want to be regular. I'm cool with being g full on a few bites but I'm just ready to be able to take them. Mostly I'm tired of not being able to drink full drinks. I ha e a cray Starbucks addiction ( even just plain espresso shots)

I definitely feel this. I thought I wanted food during my liquid phase really often, but then I drank a shake and it went away. Even now in my puréed stage I think I'm super hungry and then it just goes away. My problem right now is trying to eat slowly and not swallow air. That suuuuucks.

The first month is HARD. There's just no getting around it. Some people have an easier time than others but you're generally tired, malnourished, and dealing with a huge physical and emotional change. I was pretty lucky as far as symptoms go but I also wasn't losing much for the first 3 weeks. I lost 7 lbs the first week and then NOTHING for 2 weeks.

It's just a rough time when you're still recovering and not able to eat normally. I promise it will get easier and in a couple of months you'll be eating real food and most of the post op issues will be resolved. Hang in there!

I am four months post-op and feeling great! So yes, it will definitely get better. I had very minimal pain from the surgery itself, but did experience the gas pain. I did most of my resting during the day in my living room, so what I did was get up and walk during every commercial break. I just walked around my formal dining room table, and every day, I was able to go faster and faster. Walking is the key of getting that gas out. During my first week, I had a really hard time drinking, so I definitely couldn't get my recommended liquids in. I had to take tiny sips in, or it felt like it would just sit there and not go down. So just sip slowly. It will get better, I promise. Every day got a little easier. Now that I am four months out, I can drink normally again. Some people say they can't gulp, but I can take several swallows without any issues. Its still not easy for me to get all of my recommended liquids in, so sometimes I will resort to setting a timer on my phone that goes off every 5 minutes, and that reminds me to take a drink. That helps tremendously, although I can only do it during the evenings and on the weekends when I'm not at work. I have to say though that Water still makes me nauseous. I have to put some type of flavoring in it. Hopefully that will pass too, but as long as I have a flavoring in it, I am ok. Just hang in there, it will improve!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
