So I had my EGD this morning and the procedure itself was A breeze. No issues other than a little bit of drowsiness after. My doctor quickly went over the results with my sister and I'm a little concerned. Apparently I have a small hiatal hernia, ulcers that are in the healing stage and moderate to severe gastritis. Yikes! Anyone else have things come up they were unaware of where the EGD?

Yes, I have a 3cm hiatal hernia & chronic gastritis. They tried to give me Prilosec...but, I refused due to its severe side effect of complete kidney failure....I went to a natural supplement for healing. Although, this was not a major concern..I have been approved for surgery. Doc says gastritis needs healing before surgery so, I'm working on it...Hopefully, they will repair the hernia during surgery...Waiting for my date...I have read a lot of post regarding hernia & gastritis...it's quite common amongst overweight people..Who knew?? ;-/

I had my EGD in November and found that I had Barrett's esophagus (cell changes that can change into cancer, this is caused by acid erosion) and I never had what I thought was severe GERD. Just occasional heartburn. This diagnosis makes me not a candidate for the sleeve. I was really shocked and more than a little upset because I had decided on the sleeve, not the RNY.

Since then, I have come to terms with it and am grateful that I started on this path, I likely wouldn't have been diagnosed at all and who knows where that could have led. I feel good about the choice if RNY now because it will hopefully make my GERD a non issue and allow my lower esophagus to heal. I plan on having surgery in July even though I would qualify for April, I have a ton of stuff going on in the spring and can't take the chance of not feeling well.

Yes. I found out I have a hiatal hernia and they had to remove three polyps. Thankful none were cancerous. When I have my bypass surgery on 1/26 they will see if the hernia needs to be repaired and will do it if necessary.

I am glad your polyps were benign! Today was your day... wishing you well!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
