Not even my ears are pierced, but I'd think that the tongue ring has to come out as a precaution against fate. I'd also think you can put it back once you're out of the recovery room. That should be a total of three hours max, right, folks?

You can ask someone at your surgery practice in advance so that you have time to decide a substitute of necessary. I remember that decades ago, it was common to see girls whose ears had just been pierced with thread in the hole and tied to keep it from being pulled through. Maybe dental floss or thread for you? Whatever you'd use would have to be soft/unbiteable/unbreakable..

The tongue is the fastest healing of the body..I've had it done 3 times. First time I took it out after 3 months for an interview it was out for an hour and the top closed over...the second time i took it out for good after each days because my mother told me too...now I've had it in for a year.. I imagine it will close as much as possible with thread

Back in the day..... Lolol!

The old folk used to cut a straw from a straw broom & put a lil clean peice of it dabved in a bit of rubbing alcohol in ur ear piercing hole to keep em open. I did that for a nose piercing for a friend b4 surgery once...it worked! Try it. You'll only need it for about 3hrs.

The the trick is to shape it so its flush to the skin on both sides...gonna need sumn to poke it thru & out when u come outta recovery. If u do swallow it, its small....

Thick plastic string.... (just hear me out now)

Thick plastic string...like the kind you make those friendship bracelets with - clear if u can find it... Thread it thru & tie it on the side & tuck the knot under ur tounge. Do it AFTER they do the mouth check (they gone do that)...let em SEE u take ur bar out & errthing. If they snip it away in surgery then u tried..have a friend at the ready when u get 2ur room with ur bar 2put it right bk in. BOOM! Prob solved!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
