I don't know much about lap band. I have read a few articles on the internet. I am attending a siminar tomorrow by a local surgeon. Has anyone had the procedure? What should I expect? I have TONS of questions. I know most of them will get answered tomorrow, but I am excited and want to talk about them NOW! Shoot me some advice. Thanks!!!:clap2:

re: your question has anyone had the procedure? You're serious? You are asking if anyone here on a lapband website has had the band placed? Yep, a few of us have.

Lots of your questions will get answered tomorrow night, but I certainly understand your desire to know NOW. I was there once myself. My best advice to you is to read, read, read. There is a VERY important forum here, the FAQ and References Forum, go to the home page, and scroll down and click on it. There you will find things like lists of what to buy for when you get home from the hospital, references about the band itself and most importantly for you for tomorrow night: a list of questions to take to ask the surgeon.

Good luck!!!

Yep, sure am. It is NOT the magical fix for fat, it takes work and committment and determination, the band is merely a TOOL. You have to be in the right place in your head, but once you are there, this is the best tool I can imagine.

Check out the Before and After pics thread in I believe the general forum, you'll see some amazing transformations.

I have a VG Lap-Band. Actually, I have had one over three years now. I recommend attending the seminar and asking a lot of questions, then coming back here and reading a lot of the posts. ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
