Has anyone had banana pudding about 2 1/2 weeks post opp? My mom made some and I was wondering if a spoonful or two would hurt my sleeve. It's way to late to contact my surgeon. Please be respectful when writing a support response. I wouldn't ask if I wasn't concerned. It's a very thin material but I just want to make sure the sugar won't do anything. Maybe it's not even worth the risk. But I do have apple sauce everyday and it has sugar, yet it has not affected me.

The easy answer is to say it will be fine, and in all honesty it probably will be. My understanding, and I'm new to this too, is that sugar free is what we are suppose to strive for as well as watch our portion size. I only 6 days post op but I think by my week 2 I can have sugar free pudding. Not sure if it helps but I wish you all the will power in the world to make the right decision for yourself.

Thank you Suzie, I had about 2 tablespoons. It took me 30 minutes to eat it. I was careful in case of anything and I'm actually satisfied, since I couldn't have anything for the Christmas dinner that was made, this made me very happy

Thank you spirited one, I'm about 18 days post opp. It was not sugar free. But I deff controlled myself portion wise. Good luck with your journey, mine was a little hard my first couple of days I hope yours is going well

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
