Exactly what is included in full liquids

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what is included. I cannot seem to stomach the shakes anymore. All of a sudden they leave a terrible taste in my mouth. I tried cream of chicken and wasn't that impressed although I could tolerate if need be. Just wandering if there is anything else.

Most doctors provide a list of what they consider part of the "full liquid" phase. For my doctor, it included anything that was liquid at room temperature without chunks - so pudding and Jello (sugar-free) were included as well as greek yogurt. Any Soups without noodles or vegetables or other solid chunks, and all broths, bouillons, etc. and of course the Protein shakes and drinks.

When I got tired of the sweet, I found that I could add unflavored Protein to bouillon by mixing it with warm Water in my bullet blender before stirring it into the hot bouillon. That was a nice change from the sweet and cold stuff for me.

You should consult your surgeon or nutritionist if you weren't provided a list. For me full liquids included Protein Shakes, yogurt, and strained cream Soups. You need to tough it out with the Protein shakes or find one you can palate. They will be your primary source of protein until you are on solid foods and maybe even beyond that. It is critical for you to get all of your protein in. Especially while you are healing.

The coconut Isopure is my favorite. So far they've all been tolerable for me. Just, um, don't smell them.

Like you, I hit a point where eating the same old Protein was distasteful to me. So today I went to one of those cafeteria places with the good old fashioned food. I got a small container of the juice from the green Beans. Even watered down it tasted so darn good. I only had a few sips. Going to try adding Protein powder tomorrow.

Try Bariatric Choice liquid Protein fruit drink concentrate! I couldnt stomach the daily chalky Protein shakes, most of them made me nauseated. The Liquid Protein comes in berry, blue raspberry, pomegranate and some other flavor..its a liquid packet u mix with Water. The berry smells like a jolly rancher and tastes pretty good especially if u put a little fruit punch mio drops in it! I am definitely going to order more from Amazon. I think its 15 grams of protein per packet too

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
