Does anyone know of anything I can do to help get rid of the muscle soreness in my stomach? I'm a little worried to put a heading pad on it, even over clothes, considering my incisions are there. I got suggested ice packs and will try that as well but was wondering if you guys did anything in particular to heal that pain faster? Also, I've been walking, drinking Water and getting in Protein. Walking helps with my gas, but not my stomach pain.

I'm 7 weeks out tomorrow and I STILL have pretty hard right side pain. My surgeon said it can take up to 10 weeks to heal. I try to walk every day but I have to watch my speed. If I want to get to a cardio level I have to bind my stomach with the wrap I got from the hospital. I say keep moving but don't overdo it. My surgeon said yes to ice but no to heat.

Oh wow! I'm sorry you're still hurting. I have to hold my stomach when I walk and lean forward. It hurts to stand straight because it pulls at my stomach. I'm also afraid I'll mess something up if I stand correctly. I pray you feel better soon!

@justabitunique Thank you. I'm really thinking I've either hurt myself or I have adhesions. I know by reading so many posts on this site, this is not typical pain. I'm sure you will feel better every day, as you move through this journey. Don't feel like you can't take your pain meds or another pain reliever authorized by your surgeon. It's better to stay ahead of the pain. I wish you the best of luck!

That's why I've been a bit anxious. I see so many posts about people feeling great after day 2 and I still feel miserable.. I've only seen a few people say they still felt bad for weeks.

The pain is still here but other than that, I feel GREAT!!!! Just remember, your body was put through a LOT of trauma with surgery. Imagine how a paper cut feels on your finger. You've had 80% of your stomach removed!! There's going to be pain but everyday you will start to feel better. Push to get in your liquids and Protein and that will help tremendously. Once you have more energy and you can get up and move and get back to a normal routine, you will feel great too. I took off 2 weeks from work and during that time, I felt drained, hungry and in pain. Once I went back to work and got back to my daily routine, I quickly improved.

I used the heck out of a heating pad. Helped me immensely. Some people were also helped by an abdominal binder, my surgical team said they don't really recommend them, but they don't hurt anything.

My surgeon said there is no way you will pull stitches or hurt that muscle. Stand up straight to walk. If your stomach feels like it is pulling, hold it or use a binder. I used ice on that part for the first few days and then the pain was tolerable but lasted a couple of weeks.

I use my binder and it's been a life savor! Lol.

Mine told me that as well. I was so worried I would "break" something or pop my pouch or stitches but he said little can be done to do that- basically just progressing your diet before you should.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
