Virtual colonoscopy

Has anyone had this? I just turned 50 and the doctor performing my surgery was hardline about this particular procedure. I wondered if I will be able to work later that day. No anesthesia required for this so that wont be an issue.

Thanks! Valerie :help:

I think they kinda take advantage of how much we want the surgery and they sorta force you into getting various diagnostics done. Same applies with a pap. What the heck does a cervical problem have to do with a band around your stomach? Would they require the same thing for removing your adenoids? It's silly but it's their game and they call the shots. Just one more reason I had my surgery in Mexico. No game playing, I just got the darn surgery.

A virtual colonoscopy is one of the worst ways to detect a problem. The old fashioned way is much better. Besides, if they find anything they have to go back and do it the old way anyhow such as removing polyps, etc.

I was able to convince the doctor that I had just completed occult blood tests last month (in fact, I faxed them to his office yesterday) and that the colonography was too expensive for me to do this unless he ABSOLUTELY insisted. I'm sooo relieved! Thank you for your input!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
