So I have 50 pounds to lose. The same 50 pounds I've lost a handful of times but inevitably put back on.I have actually lost 18 pounds recently through a gastric balloon.

My weight loss has stalled and I'm at the stage were I'm purposely stalling because I'm furious with myself for not going with the sleeve (it was offered to me).

My main concern is becoming too skinny and looking ill/aged. I have severe psoriasis and research is looking good for this surgery and skin improving plus I believe I have some sleep disturbances which I'm getting checked out soon.

Any thoughts?

To be the high goal

Weight my team set for me would be 50 lbs...to hit my low goal weight would be around 70. I did not meet the BMI requirements for the surgery based on weight but I am diabetic and have sleep apnea, which did qualify and get me approved for surgery. I looked into the balloon slightly before deciding on gastric sleeve. I am 3 weeks post op from the sleeve. For me, it is more than just the weight to lose. I needed something more permanent than the balloon offered. My surgical team follows up with their patients for years. I need that. I would say go for it, but realize it's not a quick fix. It's a lifestyle change and a lot is required of you both pre op and post op. Good luck.

I had sleeve surgery 9 days ago with a bmi of 34. My surgeon told me that eventually my body would know when to stop losing weight and would come to a natural equilibrium. For me, getting too thin could be remedied by increasing calories. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I am in the same boat- but I am confident my body will regulate itself as it adjusts to new caloric intake etc. I have battled my weight all my adult life and my body always slips back to a certain (too high!) number when I stop being super vigilant about my intake. As I am getting older I am having tons of pain in my hips and knees so I know it's time even though some may think I am "too small" for the tool. The thought of getting SO thin I would feel too small is almost unfathomable! Surgery for me is 1/13- less than a month!!!

I had a bmi of 34 and about 60-70 pounds to lose and self pay. . I struggled with the decision for a long time .i kept thinking- come on you can lose 50 pounds.... But the fact is I have been overweight for my whole life and dieting my whole life. I wanted to be done with the roller coaster . I had surgery on August and last time I weighed had lost 49. It took me a long time to be happy with this surgery because I felt horrible for about 6 -7 - weeks --- weeks 8-week 15 and really worried about what I had done.

I am happy now. I love how food doesn't rule my brain. I don't think about it really except to try to get ij Protein. I love weighing less than my husband! And I love feeling more in control.

Really think about it . It is def a huge decision and I honestly don't think I knew how much it would change my life .

How do you stop the weightloss though if one doesn't really feel like eating. That's what I'm worried about. So glad it's all worked out so well for you!

Honestly I haven't even thought about that. I have heard that your body will level off and stop.!but I mean- there are ways to get in calories- like everyone said- the slider foods go down easy. If I wanted to stop losing weight I THINK I would eat other stuff before Protein and that would do it. I can't even imagine wanting to stop the weight loss ha! I just ASSUME ( maybe not smart of me) it will taper off .

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
