This last weekend two guy friends of mine asked me about my surgery and what they could expect because they are ready to take the plunge. I'm taking this as a great NSV.

I don't post on Facebook "I HAD WLS" but when a big buddy comes up to me and asks "how did you do it," well I'll tell them. I think they have been watching me for the last couple of years and they see the changes in my life. Now that they have tried WW and other things and it's just not working for them they are coming to the same conclusion I did over two 1/2 years ago.

Thanks to this site I can share with them a wealth of experiences, share knowledge and insights. But ultimately I think it is the "life style" evangelism of renewed health and energy which pushed them over the top..

Am I the only one, or has anyone else had this type of experience?

That is an awesome KUDO to you!! You are doing something great. This is exactly why I have always been so open about my RNY. If I can even help one person to take control and take their life back then "ALL is GOOD"!! You DID GREAT sharing your info.

I am only 5.5 mths post op, but I have a couple of friends watching and listening to my experience. Showing by example is much better than just telling someone about it. Glad your friends are asking you.

I've had a couple of friends ask about it, but no one has taken the plunge yet. I'm still new enough at this that they are probably waiting to see if I crash and burn or if it really works. But they are paying attention.

If my sisters ins covered it I think she'd be in a program already. If I keep things going I could see her self paying. She is just so impressed with my progress.

Seeing success stories, in person or on here, is a large pat of why most of us took the plunge. Your NSV is being a success.

I am just starting out (banded 10/31/16) but I am here today because of someone that I know that was banded 2 years ago. I have tried numerous diets, diet pills, WL doctors, you name it! When I saw how successful she was and talked to her about it...I started doing my research. Can't wait to see where this journey takes me.

Well, yes... In the sense that the bigger people in my environment are asking me how I did it. Usually they lose interest once I say "surgery" in the way of "Ok, that's not my really my business and I wouldn't do it".

I think especially the bigger people are fascinated with the rather quick weight loss because they want to have that, too. (can understand that, I'd be wanting it as well)

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
