Two week check up

Recommended Posts

Went to see surgeon today they are very happy with my progress surgeon said out of all the surgeries he has done he had never seen a patient do as well as I have and was shocked when he came to check in on me and seen me up sitting in a chair and not laying in bed on the day of my surgery. And he had never had a patient go back to work 3 days post op. He said I have been a model patient. I told him I feel wonderful and have more energy then my husband even the day I came home. My weight started at 289. I was 264 on day of surgery. 274 after surgery bc of fluids and swelling. Today I weighed 254. So I'm down a total of 35 lbs. best news of it all stage two diet. After 4 weeks of nothing but liquids I was so ready!!! SCRAMBLED eggs NEVER TASTED SO GOOD. two bites and I was stuffed like I went to a buffet. LOVED IT!!! Tomorrow I'm making ricotta bake!!! I have had no regret no buyers remorse. No emotional outbursts. I've never felt so alive and happy over a surgical procedure.

Thanks so much!!! That's why I post is bc pre op I read so many post op stories 95% of them about bad pain or gas or nausea or regret or depression ETC. I didn't see many positive stories and I am a positive success no complications story and want people to know everything can go wonderful with very little pain. Best wishes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
