@up4challenge I am doing really well after surgery. Cycles are regular for the first time in 10 years!! Hot flashes are going to kill me though. Dr. Said that hormones may take a while to level out, but so far so good! I'm down 27 ish lbs in 6 weeks and feel really good. It is still a struggle because of my glucose resistance. I can't have any sugar or carbs from starchy sources or I will stall. Periods are regular but heavy. No real pain anymore, but the spiro helped with that. Are you finding that you have to be extremely strict about sugar and carbs?

@hmm33502: It is really good to hear that your periods are regular after so many years. I know the feeling :D. Congrats on your weight loss. 27 lbs in 6 weeks is excellent!

I am losing weight way too slowly about 0.5 - 1 pound a week and my doc says it's good this way for me. I was stressed out in the beginning but then the doc said the more I stress, the more I will gain. So I am taking it slow. I am motivated (and there are days when I feel a little low).

Periods have always been heavy for me, so I do not notice much of a change in the flow, except the blood clots are much lower compared to the freak show I used to have. What is 'spiro'? I generally don't like sugar or any sweet items (I take about 1 tsp of sugar a day with tea). I love chocolates but after the surgery I don't like them any more ;-).

Carbs: Out here at our place, rice is one of the most common dishes, which I can take about 1-2 tablespoon per meal. So I eat rice about 2-3 times a week. I mostly rely on fruits (papaya, watermelon, banana and strawberries) for lunch and dinner and consume GNC Protein shake in the morning. I am trying to add eggs, chicken and fish to my diet but I still hate the taste and smell of these.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
