Hello I'm Susan

I had my gastric bypass 16th November 2015 and just under a month later I was back in hospital because my stomach had closed and had to be reopened after that I tolerated food and everything normally but on June 22nd this year I ended up being rushed to a&e crying in pain and constantly being sick had to have CT scan X-rays and a camera down my throat and then after 2 days in hospital I had ultrasound done and found out I had gallstones and after 5months in crippling pain to the point I was on morphine and not able to go to work for the whole time I had my gallbladder out on 7th November 2016 I had 29 stones (yes I kept them to show my nephews as they were very concerned when I told them what was wrong with me and constantly asked if I still had rocks in my tummy) I was released the next day and stopped needing pain relief after 3 day, I am now 3weeks post op and last few days it feels like I've been punched in side of my tummy so sharp pain comes and go but their is a general pain there all the time plus it's been painful to eat anything want to know if anyone has experienced this. Please help going to see my doctor next thursday

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
