2 Week Post Op Appt Today- Pain with hematoma

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Had my post op 2 week follow up today.

Woke up in severe pain this morning and was so glad that I already had the follow up appointment scheduled for today.

Only one incision is bothering me... still quite a bit of bruising there.

But the severe pain I am having is on my left front side (away from the incisions). It is a sharp, sore, shooting pain that only goes away a little when I lay down.

Today, I found out what it is. The doctor said it is a hematoma (I had to look it up when I got home). He said it can cause quite a bit of pain, but that it will go away.

I was just wondering, has anyone else out there had this problem and how long did it take for it to go away ( I know everyone is different, just curious).

Thanks,

:)

I had an almost burning sensation away from the incisions, like my skin was literally on fire. My doc just looked at me and said "huh?" It went away the next day. Hopefully, it's just as quick for you.

Wow. I haven't felt anything like that. It sure is interesting to hear other people's experiences on here.

Glad your pain quickly went away for you. And thank you, I hope mine goes away soon. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
