Keeping food hot

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

One of the worst things I can think of is having to eat a cold dinner, whatever size it is!

We all learn that small portions and chew well are watchwords and I don't have a problem with this...... My problem is eating a cold dinner!

How have you dealt with this minor problem in your life? I've tried heating the plate in the oven and other things but none have been long lasting like my current meal times

I bought a teapot warmer with a tealight underneath. Feels a bit odd to eat this way but it does keep my meals hot :) You could put the plate on it between mouthfuls as we all take time to chew these days or you could be like me and just search until you find one that's sturdy enough to hold the plate whilst you eat.

If you try it you need to be eating at a table and the holder needs to be of a solid design. Would hate to think of the amount burning houses there would be if you tried this on a tray on your lap..................

Just remember that the manufacturers would have a fit if they knew how it was being used :P

Anyone else have any ideas?

Martin

After my RNY gastric bypass surgery, I found that soft foods (such as chili and soups) went down much easier than hard foods (such as a piece of chicken or a steak). So this is what I relied on. Generally I cooked up a pot of chili or Soup and then removed some from a bowl stored in the refrigerator and microwaved it until it was hot. The problem I encountered, especially with reheating chili was that it exploded and splattered the inside of the microwave. I then found a ceramic bowl with a soft lid that contained a vent. This heated my meals well and at the same time meant that I was not constantly cleaning the inside of the microwave. So if you want to try this approach, you might refer to a short article that I wrote that described this and I also included recipes at the end.

How about using a coffee cup warmer or they also have portioned plates for toddlers that are warmers

I have not done this but I read one of those warming dishes you use for baby food works well.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
