I am 3 weeks post op and have only lost 11 LBS I am eating right, drinking tons of Water and I am joining a gym this weekend. I feel discouraged. I was hoping to be down more by now. Has anyone else not lose much in their first month? Please any advice would be appreciated!!!

I was sleeved 10/24 and I've only lost 10 pounds so far. I did lose 50 pounds pre-op and I'm still working on getting in my 64oz of Water so I figure those 2 things may be factors.

I lost 16 lbs my first month, but I've lost 216 lbs altogether. People lose at different rates; just stick to your program and you *will* lose. Like the above commenter, I lost a bunch of weight before surgery (57 lbs, to be exact). People who do that sometimes lose slower that first month post-surgery, from what I've seen lurking around these boards for a couple of years. It could be that people who lose a ton that first month are losing a lot of Water, and for those of us who lost a lot of weight before surgery, that "water weight" is long gone.

Thanks for the encouragement. I had the sleeve done in 2013 and lost 130 lbs and had my revision on Oct 26 and only lost 11 lbs but I did lose 6 lbs of Water weight after the surgery. Not gonna give up still have another 100 lbs to lose.

Everything I've heard and read says revisions don't lose as quickly. Our bodies have already figured this out. Remember it is a marathon not a sprint

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
