Getting stuck on chicken

Recommended Posts

hi,

my band is a fickle beyotch ... some days chicken is fine for me, some days i cant even handle one bite.

some tips:

make sure it is either VERY moist white meat or switch to dark meat. i found i can handle thighs better than breasts

try a topping or gravy. if i have breasts i like a teaspoon of salsa on top. cheese works well too.

good luck

Thanks losing.

I love chicken!

Prior to being banded I would make chicken in any kind of way imaginable!

This band is weird!

I'm sitting here eating cottage cheese with raisins and that is going down slow and rugged.

Wtf? I'm almost three weeks out!

I have to eat right?

Some days I'm cool and some days I worry that I have'nt eaten enough.

Yesterday I had a small container of chili I ate for lunch but I had to eat half at 1pm and the other half at 3pm.

Later I had a slice of turkey and pinched off of a slice of bread,

Than Late I picked at some chicken that made my chest feel like hell!

I agree, the chicken has GOT to be moist. Open Pit is my friend.

If you are only 3 weeks post op, it may be a bit soon for such solid foods. I know every doc is different with his/her post op instructions, but I can almost guarantee that you are still swollen from your surgery, and that is why the chicken is getting stuck.

If you must eat chicken at this stage, try it, as was suggested before, with something to lubricate the meat.

Best of luck.

Ok sometimes when I eat chicken I'm fine.

Than other times it hurts so bad going down.

Why?

Can the stuck feeling mess with my band?

Here lately....for me, it's been 1 of 3 things. I've eaten too big of a bite of chicken, not chewed enough, or too fast. Either way....stuck/hurt. I would suggest altering one of the 3 to see if it will help.

Good luck,

Annette

White meat of any kind, especially chicken and turkey, are big offenders because they are naturally dry. Too bad because I ONLY eat white meat. It takes some concentration.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
