I have surgery on the 8th and am still hurting but I haven't experienced a change on my taste buds, however I feel full of gasses, and crave a lot of things but haven't eaten none.

It is is good to talk to someone that is experiencing the same. What about the drinking and eating? It's been hard trying to get everything down

I have a very difficult time getting the three meals in they want me to do. I've broken into six very smaller meals. Yes, I still crave the crap I use to eat. It's been almost a month since I had the R&Y switch.

I am just starting this journey and it's not easy, now I noticed that I want to cook everything I crave for my family and even thinking about making pies for thanksgiving. At least by then I will be purée and I will be able to taste turkey

I'm fortunate. The only one to cook for is myself. I have not caved to any of my cravings. This surgery has put the stop to that nonsense. Haven't even had coffee since my surgery. And I was hard core addicted to my coffee. I pray it all gets easier.

That's really good! I have to say I am doing good too, having my family eating regular food around me don't even want to make me give in. This was a lifetime changing for me and I know is going to get easy for us.

Luckily I have never liked the taste of coffee so that helps but I have four young sons ages 4-7 so it's no fun smelling all that yummy food they want to eat all the time. Lol. I'm sure it will get easier as I heal. Between the pain meds, blood thinner shots, trying to walk each day, drink enough Water, and eat on time... it's quite the process.

My incisions look great but they are sore and are starting to itch.

My incisions are good. One is a little sore, the only place I bruised was on my left side. I went through a lot before my R&Y was done. I went to my primary care she referred me to a wonderful surgeon. She found I had cancer in my stomach. Then she found I have NASH. Non alcohol related cirrhosis if my liver. I had numerous minor surgeries before this. Once I was under she decided to remove the stomach. It was pretty rough the first few days. But I have lost 27 pounds since the surgery.

Wao! Bless your heart. I haven't really noticed any weight lost yet but like 2 lbs because I am swollen a little. The doctor repair two hernias at the time of surgery but that's nothing compared to yours.

I drink a lot of Water and I've made myself walk if I feel like it or not. Lol Time for me to hit the bed. I wish you continued success. Don't get down on yourself. I'm kind of liking this app!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
