did my dr really band me?

Recommended Posts

Hi - I was banded 9/6 (four days ago) and I feel really good too. I moved a little slow, and am tender in my gut...but really am doing well. My stomach (my lower stomach) is rumbling a lot - I'm sure it's not happy with the liquid diet! If I had to pick one complaint it would be that I am easily winded and a little weak. I am trying to get 20g of Protein per day via Isopure, hope that will help.... what are you eating now????

during the liquid phase my doctor had me on 4 medifast shakes, puddings or creamed Soups a day and 2 6oz pureed soups such as pea, lentil or cream of tomatoe; I was fine, I ate about every 2-3 hours and could hardly get all 6 meals in. try it, the medifast is high Protein.< /p>

I had my surgery on 8/22/07. I felt a little sore after the surgery around my stitches but couldn't believe how good I felt over all. I will say the first two weeks I had no energy at all and then slowly but surely it has been getting better. Its been three weeks and I have lost 27 pounds and I feel great. This was huge step in life for me and I know it took a lot of heartache to get to this point. To see the pounds drop off I wish I had the courage and sense to do it earlier.

You know, I've heard of some doctors that do that...they pretend to put the band in, but they actually are looking for good organs to harvest...

What is the definition of "good"??

I was feeling "great" after surgery....most people do since its a miminally invasive surgery...thats what's so great about laparoscopy!!!!

(emphasis my own)

Did your doc tell you to only have 20gms of Protein daily? Usually it's around 60gms daily.

It's not the end of the world if you don't get protein in now, you have PLENTY of stores of protein for several weeks. If you didn't you wouldn't have passed your pre op labs. But still, you might want to check with your doc and see what he wants you to consume daily.

Check out index

You can get clear Protein drinks and they are actually good. Each bottle has 42mg of Protein and these are great for the liquids and mushies stage. I had these just post surgery and they are fine for the clear liquid stage.

Oh please....That ranks up there with the guy who gets drunk in the bar and winds up in the bathtub of ice without a kidney....In some back alley third world country these things might happen, but not normally, not mainstream. You'd have a much better chance getting struck by lightening or eaten by a shark.

That is an urban legend. I would suggest browsing through:

Can't you people take a joke?

Around here you just never know. I've seen people ask if the band goes around your waist, I've seen people ask if the port gets soap scum eventually from the shower, one lady swore up and down that her best friend had her band placed vaginally.

Without smiley's you just never know what people are thinking.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
