Because of some unrelated stuff I took a sabbatical from work. It just so happened to be shortly after my first appointment. I lost close to 15 lbs, just by not being stressed at work. It's completely unrealistic to stop working though in most cases and I cannot stay home forever. I go back to work about 2 weeks before my surgery(which is during my pre-op diet), so that makes me nervous (next week actually) I am also nervous because my surgery is also right after Thanksgiving. Double stress. I was only told to lose 6 lbs, it's different in every case though. The primary reason for weightloss before wls is to shrink the liver, to make room for the instruments, as well as ensure your safety. :) I doubt this helped. Lol sorry.

I had a 2 week pre op diet but it wasn't full liquid. I could still eat chicken and other foods. but I lost ten pounds within those 2 weeks. My doctor also did not require me to loose a specific amount pre surgery. As long as I followed the diet, he said it didn't matter if I lost a specific amount. But he did say the liver doesn't lie and if he started my surgery and liver was too fatty he would just close me back up and make me go on a full liquid 2 month diet before he would let me have surgery again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
