I had my surgery on 10/21/16. My start weight preop was 266 and now I'm at 243. WooHoo! I am not stressing over pounds because i know those numbers will go lower in time. But I am struggling with overall intake of liquids and Protein. The first week was rough with just liquids. Now that I moved to puree foods, I thought it would get easier but I am struggling with getting everything in (liquids, protein, food). I don't feel hungry and I get indigestion often. I can barely get 1 Protein shake in and I sip on Water throughout the day. Trying to fit puree food in between is hard especially when I don't feel hungry or really want anything. I hope it gets better. I am trying to stay positive. I am excited to have a happier, healthier life.

@@jillyd Sounds a lot like my first month...dropped weight well but I never wanted to put anything in my stomach. I was never hungry and still have no hunger at all at almost 5 months post-op. If you need to, set an alarm on your phone and MAKE yourself eat a couple of spoonfuls of something every so often. It took me hours to get a whole container of yogurt down, but I had to do it. Add a scoop of unflavored Protein to it and it will help you get your Protein requirement met. Eating purees is important in your advancing diet...you have to make the transition from liquids to solids in order to get to a more 'normal' place.

I also blended my RTD shakes with ice, to lighten both the taste and texture. If you can tolerate colder foods, you may want to try it. I also added cinnamon to the chocolate shakes, to cut the sweetness a bit.

Good luck, and you'll get tons of good ideas and support here. Congratulations on your surgery and the beginning of your healthier life...I'm amazed every day by how much better I feel, looking better is a bonus :) Welcome to the Losers' Bench!!

I use the unflavored Protein powder to boost the Protein in my deals. 1/2 scoop is 10 grams.

I made carrot coconut curry Soup (thick puree) and put it into 5oz into containers. I used mansion jars I microwave Soup for 2 minutes and dump into a bowl then add 2oz of cashew milk into the hot container and stir in a scoop of powder till smooth. This warms up the milk and protein a bit so it doesn't curdle when you stir it into the soup.

It's tasty and has 20 grams of protein (25 if you make the soup with cow milk) great for lunch at work. I make a batch of soup every few days keep 2 in the fridge and freeze 4 for later.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
