Daily Calories

Recommended Posts

Just about six weeks post-op now and I can get up to around 850/day if I work at it, but my Water intake tends to suffer because I have to do four meals to achieve that. I'm wanting to get up to around 1,000 so that my metabolism keeps going and I have a bit more energy every day, because exercise is burning off a lot of what I eat. However, my stomach and body can only do so much, this early on...so generally I'm right there with you at around 600-700 calories, with 48-60 oz of water.

I had a revision a little over three weeks ago and I'm struggling to get up to 400 calories a day. Aside from having absolutely no appetite the effort it takes to eat makes it difficult. I'm focusing on Water intake and eating what I can when I can.

My bariatric nurse said that she wanted me to get at least 800 cals a day, as anything less was a starvation diet. She also said 70g of Protein a day and 80-100 when I started working out.

I was at 600-750 a day. I still have problems getting 64 oz of Water but I am getting better.

I just upped my calories to 1000 this last week and I am 8 weeks out. Sometimes I feel like I need a little extra calories and will go up to 1100. I eat every 3 hours. I take in around 60-80 grams of Protein a day. I wasn't one of the lucky ones whose hunger went away, unless I'm confusing hunger with something else. I've been on an antacid since the day of surgery. I drink 50-70 oz of Water a day.

I must be on the starvation diet. I never hit 800 @ 7 weeks out.

Program calls for 800-1200 cal/day (from wk 5 when I was approved to eat solids and anything I can tolerate). I'm averaging 946 cal for the last two months.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
