Consumption of full liquids....HELP

Recommended Posts

I was wonder about how many ounces of full liquids everyone was able to consumer at a meal in the full liquid phase. For example, I am on day 4 post op and I feel great, like nothing has happened other than my stitches, but this evening I made homemade egg-drop Soup with just the whites and I was able to drink the majority of a cup in about 30 minutes. Is this normal. I feel like I have NO restriction. The way the doc's talked they said I would only be able to probably have 1 to 2 ounces. Or did they mean, 1 -2 ounces of solids. I am soooo confused... Is there something wrong with me?

Right now you have no restriction. Most likely your band is totally empty and is just sitting there! I had 2 weeks of Clear Liquids after surgery and am now on my month of mushies. Physically, you can eat/drink the stuff you did before, but it is not good for your healing tummy! (My doc wants me to stick to 1/2 to 1 cup of food per meal. You will feel hungry. Drink lots of fluids to help stay full.) Right now, sip fluids throughout the day. Once I get my first fill I will only be able to eat 1/4 of a cup of food or so. If you aren't sure as to what to do- call your doctor.

Liquids are going to go down easier. If you're eating faster than 30 minutes you would notice it feeling full sooner, but I don't recommend it. I think basically the first couple days for me it was only a couple ounces every fifteen minutes. I was on clear liquids for the first week and by the second week I could do an 8oz Protein Drink in 30-45min. Everyone is different. I had my surgery on 8/21 and am on pureed foods this week. I'm still not hungry and sometimes can't even finish my 4oz meal (breakfast and lunch). If you're concerned about how many ounces I would call your doc. Good luck!

I can eat about 6 ounces at a time. At first it was only 2 or 3 oz per meal. I'm supposed to be on all liquids.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
