I was able to get all 8 oz's down in about 1 hour and then I was in miserable discomfort for 2 days. I would say you are just lucky and that you don't have as much swelling right now. I think you would feel a lot of pain and discomfort if you were stretching out your pouch. :) I'm no expert but I don't' think you should be too concerned.

If anything just try to avoid eating all of it in one sitting. Set up your own limits and that way you won't be scared you are overdoing it. Hang in there and congrats on eating it and not feeling sick!! You don't know it but that makes you lucky and awesome! :)

I am 10 days post op. Am I the only one who can have 8 oz of cream of wheat at one sitting? I am so worried that I may stretch my pouch. Please help.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Be sure to stick with suggested serving size on your plan.

Everyone is different. Like 3 days after surgery, I could eat like 6p ounces of "snow ice" in one sitting in like an hour... But for some reason, couldn't drink Water straight like that. Trust me.. Your pouch is working because if not you could eat a whole plate of food... And I KNOW you can't do that!

Hmm, I'd ask your doctor. That does seem like a lot.

Tonight I tried to get 4 oz for dinner instead of 2 and I made it to about 3 and now have food coming up my throat if I try to lay down.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
